This is not reasonable. If asked, how does the fault of harming one's own inference arise? The answer is: Therefore, (you) say that in the state before the goer, those who possess form, such as the dweller, are also not goers. Because in the state before the goer, those who are not goers, such as the dweller, the sitter, the sleeper, and so on, who possess form, are also not goers. If (you) say that in the state before the goer, one who is not a goer later becomes a goer and wants to go. If that is the case, then in the state before the goer, those who are not goers, such as the dweller, the sitter, the sleeper, and so on, who possess form, will later become goers, and the fault of going will arise. Therefore, this will cause the fault of harming your own inference, so it is not reasonable. If (you) say that there is no goer, then this is because the Samkhyas do not want (to have) the situation of harming their own inference. If you say that not being a goer means there is no goer, therefore, it does not go, which is also established in our doctrine. This is because the Madhyamikas argue that it does not go, which causes the fault of arguing for something that is already established. We Samkhyas are not without a goer, but want to go. If you say that, if you say that, then the Madhyamikas should refute and examine them in this way: It harms the previous tenet. Saying that, the Samkhyas say that not being a goer means there is no goer, which will cause the fault of harming one's own previous tenet, so it is not reasonable. If asked, how does the fault of harming one's own previous tenet arise? The answer is: Therefore, because the term "not a goer" does not admit that there is no goer. The Samkhyas' term "not a goer" does not admit that there is absolutely no goer. Because even before the act of going arises, the goer always possesses the nature of particles, so it is admitted that the goer always exists. Now, saying that not being a goer means there is no goer, this itself (harms) one's own previous tenet.

Because it would create the fault of harm, that is not acceptable. Others say: By acknowledging the act of the goer and the non-goer from the categories, the fault as previously stated can be avoided. To those who say this, the proponents of appropriateness say: We acknowledge the act of the goer from the category of life, and we acknowledge the act of the non-goer from the category of body, therefore, the faults that you Madhyamikas stated, 'Temporarily, the goer does not go, the non-goer is not going,' those faults are avoidable on our side. The proponents of appropriateness declare thus: Because we acknowledge the nature of life, which is the category of moving and going, as the goer itself, therefore, the fault that you Madhyamikas stated, 'The non-goer does not go,' is not present on our side. Because we acknowledge the nature of the body, which is the category of moving and not going, as the non-goer itself, therefore, the fault that you Madhyamikas stated, 'The goer does not go,' is not present on our side. They say this. In response to their saying this, the commentator himself explains here: The teacher explains the nature of the mixture of the goer and the non-goer, which is other than and not associated with the activity of going, by saying, 'The goer is other than the goer and the non-goer, how can a third go?' Therefore, the teacher, by the non-existence of such a thing itself, speaks the latter half of this verse. The nature of the mixture of the goer and the non-goer means that which has the nature in which the goer itself and the non-goer itself are mixed and mingled, that is called the nature of the mixture of the goer and the non-goer. Or, the nature that is mixed and different from the goer itself and the non-goer itself, that is called the nature of the mixture of the goer and the non-goer. Other than and not associated with the activity of going means that the nature of the mixture of the goer and the non-goer, such a nature is not associated with the activity of going.

English
It is also said that it is not related to the act of going. The term "by the very absence" means that such a thing is by its very nature not existent. The term "said" means that the teacher explains with the following half-verse the nature of awareness other than the goer and the non-goer, that such a thing is not related to the act of going, and by its absolute absence. "Other than the goer and non-goer, what third will go?" It means that other than the goer and the non-goer, that third nature of mixing and mingling the two does not exist, so how will such a thing go, it will not go at all. Or, other than the goer and the non-goer, that third nature that is mixed and different from the two does not exist, so how will such a thing go, it will not go at all, that is its summary. In order to show that meaning, it is said, "Such a thing is only non-existent," the author of the sutra thinks so. Why does he think so? Because, therefore, it is said that it can be a goer and also a non-goer, which is difficult to show. Because the seal of the various ways of the suitable ones is difficult to establish. In order to show that because it is difficult to establish, it is necessary to fully accept the way in which the suitable ones speak in two ways. Because for this, refuting with the seal of various ways will become the fault of incompatibility, so without a doubt, relative to some things it will become a goer, and relative to some things it will become a non-goer, so it is necessary to fully accept the way of speaking in two ways. If you fully accept the way of speaking in two ways, then what will happen at that time? Therefore, at that time, it will also become a harm to the inference following the instructions given to the goer and the non-goer, so the desired meaning will not be achieved. Thus it is indicated: life.
