He said: Thus, whatever gives rise to the thought, "Devadatta has a stick," is universally connected with the meaning of the term "absence of going." Therefore, in order to prove that you also possess this absence of going, if the meaning of your reason is contradictory even in conventional terms, what need is there to mention it in ultimate terms? Because it is unreasonable. Without a reason, there is no example. Therefore, the fault as stated cannot be avoided. Thus he spoke. This shows that because the previous reasons of yours are used to name things that accord with their objects, the initial proposition that "internal things are only produced" is not established. This is the final statement. Some of his own party say, referring to the Sutra school, that the Madhyamikas' negation of the absence of going is a fault of proving what is already established, and is therefore not permissible. Some of his own party, referring to the Sutra school, say that the aggregate body that arises from the element of wind generated by effort arising from the cause of intention, and that arises from and is transformed from the elements, is called "going" when it arises without obstruction in another place. This shows that effort arises from intention, and effort generates the element of wind, and the aggregate body that arises from the element of wind and is transformed from the elements is called "going" when it arises without obstruction in another place. Therefore, even conventionally, "going" has not become another meaning. And ultimately, there is no going, so the Madhyamikas' negation of going as having become another meaning is a fault of proving what is already established, and is therefore not permissible. The "cause of intention" means that intention is the desire to do. Intention itself is the cause, so it is the "cause of intention." What is it the cause of? It is the cause of effort. Therefore, it is said, "effort arising from the cause of intention," and effort is the nature of movement. Because effort generates the element of wind, it is said, "the element of wind generated by effort." From that element of wind arise the elements.

I, the body composed of arising aggregates, is called 'going,' which means arising without interruption in another place. The collection of elements refers to the collection of the four great elements. The collection of that which has arisen from the elements refers to the collection of forms that have been made into causes. What is that? Therefore, it is said to be the body, that is, the collection of arising and that which has arisen from the elements is called the body. From the wind element, the arising of that body from one place to another, and the continuous arising without interruption, is applied to what is called 'going.' Therefore, 'going' does not become another meaning, as examined by the Vaibhashikas. Why? Because it arises in the very place of arising, due to destruction. 'Going,' if it only refers to the body arising without interruption in another place, then the body is destroyed in the very place where it arises, so 'going' does not become another meaning. What is that like? Therefore, just like flames and so on, 'going' is mistaken, so we do not accept that 'going' is another meaning. Just like flames and streams of water and so on, they also disappear in the very place where they arise, and although they do not go to another place, the world sees 'going' as mistaken, so we do not accept that 'going' has become another meaning. Ultimately, there is no 'going,' so ultimately refuting 'going' is establishing what is already established. They say this, which indicates this. Just as the Madhyamikas refute 'going' ultimately, and refute 'going' that is different from the body, we only follow the established tenets of the Sutra school, therefore there is the fault of establishing what is already established. They say this. In response to what they say, here, merely by making an explanation, arising is refuted, so the stated establishment cannot be established, and so on. Refuting arising is because the stated establishment cannot be established, we Madhyamikas say: not from self, not from other, not from both, not from no cause. Whatever things, wherever.
