That which leads like a wish-fulfilling jewel is the proper way. What is it that thoroughly demonstrates this? Therefore, it is said that it is thoroughly demonstrated by words such as 'unborn.' Among these, 'by words such as unborn' refers to those words previously taught, such as 'unborn,' 'unceased,' 'uninterrupted,' 'impermanent,' 'uncoming,' 'ungoing,' 'not different in meaning,' and 'not one in meaning.' In 'thoroughly demonstrates,' 'thoroughly' means for the sake of sentient beings who possess fortune, or supremely. 'Demonstrates' means to separate or establish. That nature of the Thus-Gone One is not only thoroughly demonstrated by words such as 'unborn,' but also, it is the non-erroneous Suchness. 'Non-erroneous Suchness' means the very nature of non-perversion. Here, some say this: If the nature of the Thus-Gone One, which is thoroughly demonstrated by words such as 'unborn,' also has error, then at that time it would have confusion, so another distinction of 'non-erroneous Suchness' must be shown. If so, why, since the basis of distinction, the nature of the Thus-Gone One, which is indicated by the distinction of being thoroughly demonstrated by words such as 'unborn,' is without error as before, is it indicated by another distinction of 'non-erroneous Suchness'? To that, this should be said: Some understand this as a form of error, thinking that things, as grasped by the consciousness of children, are empty of the nature of the completely imputed, but not empty of the nature of the perfectly established, which is the domain of the wisdom of the noble ones. If they say that, it is a form of erroneous understanding. If asked why it is a form of erroneous understanding, it is like this: The Blessed One said in the Noble Lankavatara Sutra: 'As the noble ones discriminate, the reality of things does not exist; as children discriminate, all things are only existent.' And also in the Noble Perfection of Wisdom, the Blessed One, the venerable Subhuti

Subhuti asked: World Honored One, what is the Dharma by which one manifestly and perfectly attains Buddhahood? Is it that one manifestly and perfectly attains Buddhahood in the language of the world, or is it that one manifestly and perfectly attains Buddhahood in ultimate truth? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, that the Tathagata manifestly and perfectly attains Buddhahood by this Dharma is merely expressed in the language of the world. Therein, there is nothing to be observed whereby this Dharma manifestly and perfectly attains Buddhahood by this Dharma. Why is that? Subhuti, that this Dharma manifestly and perfectly attains Buddhahood by this Dharma is an object of observation, but there is nothing to be obtained or realized from the two, and because it is non-dual. Thus it is said. Moreover, in that very text it says: Subhuti, in ultimate truth, what is it that the Tathagata does not see with those five eyes, that those foolish people who slander the Buddha think is the object to be observed? Therefore. Understanding what is correct and incorrect should be viewed as the commentators have done in the chapter on Nirvana. Now, the subject itself should be stated: Tathagata

Furthermore, the Sutra of the Ten Stages of the Bodhisattva states: 'Where does it abide, for what reason, on what basis, and with what kind of mind does one abide in the first stage? That is abiding. Now, briefly, where does that mind arise? O sons of the Victorious Ones! For those beings who have accumulated very much merit, accumulated very much virtue, practiced very diligently, served and revered the Buddhas who have appeared, accumulated very much white dharma, been well-grasped by virtuous friends, whose intentions are very pure, who possess great superior intentions, who possess great faith, and whose love and compassion have manifested.' This is what was said. For what reason does that mind arise? 'In order to manifestly desire the wisdom of the Buddhas, in order to obtain the power of the ten powers, in order to obtain great fearlessness, in order to obtain the equality of the Buddhas' dharma, in order to completely protect all beings, in order to purify love and great compassion, in order to obtain the knowledge of all ten directions without exception, in order to purify all Buddha-fields without obstruction, in order to comprehend the three times in a single instant, and in order to be fearless in turning the great wheel of dharma, the minds of the Bodhisattvas will arise.' This is what was said. From what basis does that mind arise? 'From great compassion as a precursor, wisdom and the mastery of wisdom, completely grasped by skillful means, well-shown by intention and superior intention, possessing the immeasurable power of the Thus-Gone Ones, possessing the power of vigor, completely distinguished by the power of intelligence, possessing discrimination, in accordance with self-arisen wisdom, for all the Buddhas' dharma, correctly seeking the instructions of wisdom and knowledge, possessing the exhaustion of the realm of dharma, abiding like the realm of space and reaching the limit of the ultimate end, that is where that mind will arise.' This is what was said. What kind of mind will arise?
