Having attained the characteristic of the fruit's own meaning, the Joyful Ground of the Bodhisattva, praised the Bhagavan in the manner of how it was understood, and intended to compose a treatise. Due to the characteristic of the fruit's benefit to others, possessing a mind moistened by the water of compassion, mainly focusing on and wishing to comprehend followers, intending to have them realize and composing a treatise. The teacher also said that the cause of arising is such, connecting the meaning's connection, it can be seen as connecting the reasoning's connection. Now, the meaning of the words will be explained. The teacher is the teacher who understands and comprehends the rituals for attaining higher realms and liberation. Or, the teacher who abides in the path rituals for attaining them. Or, the teacher who understands and abides in the rituals of disciplining through actions, such as arising and prostrating. Or, the teacher who understands and attains the rituals of disciplining by abandoning afflictions such as desire. Or, the teacher who combines the three rituals of enabling others to attain higher realms and liberation, arising from actions, and disciplining afflictions. The word "also" is not only that the Bhagavan alone combines the benefit of sentient beings with compassion, but like this, the teacher also combines the benefit of sentient beings with compassion. The teacher also, previously abiding in the ground of practice with faith and desire, what did he understand as the cause for attaining the ground of superior intention's purity? Therefore, he spoke of the Thus-Gone One's nature, etc. Here, the Thus-Gone One's nature is the basis of difference, and being fully shown by words such as unborn, and the non-erroneous Suchness, these two are its differences. Then, who fully shows the cause for attaining the ground of superior intention's purity? What fully shows it? What is its difference? Therefore, the Thus-Gone One, and its nature, and being fully shown by words such as unborn, the non-erroneous

It is said to be suchness, which is in order. Who is good at revealing it? Therefore, it is called Tathagata. Why is it called Tathagata? Because he understands it as it is, therefore he is the Tathagata. What is meant by "suchness"? It is Nirvana. Because it is not deceptive, it is called "suchness." As the Blessed One said to the monks, "The supreme truth is this, namely, Nirvana, which has the nature of non-deception," as it is said. "Gone" is a synonym for understanding, just as speakers in the world say, "This person possesses understanding." Therefore, he understands Nirvana and fully realizes it, and attains complete enlightenment, so he is called Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness" refers to the three doors of liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. "Gone" means that he has completely understood these, therefore he is the Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness" refers to the four noble truths. "Gone" means that he has completely understood these, therefore he is the Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness" refers to the four blessings: truth, generosity, peace, and wisdom. "Gone" means that he has completely understood these, therefore he is the Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness" refers to all the Buddha's teachings. "Gone" means that he has completely understood these, therefore he is the Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness" refers to the six perfections. "Gone" means that they have reached the state of perfect and complete enlightenment through these, therefore he is the Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness" refers to the ten Bodhisattva grounds, beginning with the Joyful Ground. "Gone" means that they have reached the state of perfect and complete enlightenment through these, therefore he is the Tathagata. Alternatively, "suchness"

The term "Thus" refers to the same as the Noble Eightfold Path. The term "Gone" refers to having gone to the state of a perfectly complete Buddha, therefore, it is Thus Gone One. Or, the term "Thus" refers to the accumulation of limitless collections of merit and wisdom over countless immeasurable eons. The term "Gone" refers to the attainment of perfect and complete enlightenment, therefore, it is Thus Gone One. Or, the term "Thus" refers to, from the moment of generating the mind of enlightenment, exerting effort like one whose head and clothes are on fire, accomplishing all the qualities of a Buddha, just as the noble Maitreya and other Bodhisattvas, who have genuinely entered the path for a long time, support from behind, thus exerting effort manifestly. The term "Gone" refers to being the first to attain perfect and complete enlightenment alone, therefore, it is Thus Gone One. Or, the term "Thus" refers to, during three countless eons, performing hundreds of thousands of difficult deeds, such as giving away internal and external heads, hands, feet, eyes, excellent limbs, as well as bone marrow and the entire body, in a way that other non-Buddhists like Ishvara, Mahadeva, Brahma, Samkhya, Ajivikas, Akshipada, Vaisheshika, and followers of Jaimini cannot. The term "Gone" refers to the attainment of perfect and complete enlightenment, therefore, it is Thus Gone One. Or, the term "Thus" refers to, just as all the past Thus Gone Ones, with hearts of love, compassion, and affection, attained perfect and complete enlightenment solely for the benefit and happiness of all beings. The term "Gone" refers to this Bhagavan also attaining perfect and complete enlightenment, therefore, it is Thus Gone One. Or, the term "Thus" refers to, relying on the fourth dhyana, using the power of the vajra-like samadhi, abandoning the afflictions of the peak of existence, in a way that externalists cannot completely abandon afflictions and thus revolve in samsara. The term "Gone" refers to going to the city of Nirvana, therefore, it is Thus Gone One.
