Since Bodhisattvas accumulate immeasurable collections of merit and wisdom, this treatise is the realm of those who follow the profound and vast conduct of the Perfection of Wisdom, therefore it should not be the realm of ordinary people. Those who enter the Madhyamaka treatise are the Sangha of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Complete Buddha, Samantabhadra, as it is said. Therefore, the Madhyamaka treatise is dedicated to great Bodhisattvas and is proclaimed for them, not for the realm of ordinary people. Therefore, it is not reasonable to constantly ask about what one does not understand, so the commentary of the venerable Buddhapalita is not reasonable. Here, some say: You previously said, "Cessation is without arising," thus establishing the nature of the treatise. Our words are not good, because cessation is reasonable after arising, because it is a prior cause, like annihilation. You say: Because samsara is without beginning, the arising that is preceded by cessation is not promised to be refuted later, so there is the fault of an uncertain reason. Cessation does not depend on the order of arising, and it is an investigation of meaning, and even if the words are changed, the same consequence remains, so there is no fault. Having established that the word "cessation" comes before "arising," when establishing non-arising after that, "Not from self, not from other, not from both, not without cause, whatever things, wherever, are never born." Thus, by first establishing the refutation of arising before cessation, I also should have established non-cessation or non-annihilation after showing non-arising, but instead of showing that, you show the meaning of the words "no coming" and "no going," so your answers in the Madhyamaka treatise are often inconsistent. To answer that preliminary objection, the commentator here says: The world is mostly attached to the reality of things because of the power of the terminology of many activities, so to remove the pain of manifest attachment.

Some say, "If one action of the characteristic of going is eliminated, then it is easy to eliminate the remaining actions, therefore, the former position should be established first." This statement shows that: Because all the world is attached to birth, therefore, like what was done before, the elimination of birth was shown before the elimination of cessation. Here also, the world mostly clings to the objects of action because of the names of many actions, so in order to remove the thorn of clinging, the teacher reversed the order and showed the meaning of the words of eliminating coming and going after eliminating birth. Among them, "the world mostly" means mostly among people. In "because of the names of many actions," "many actions" means because the world has many actions, which is synonymous with infinite actions. "Name" means the name of movement and behavior, that is, all the world has the names of many actions such as coming, going, and dwelling. "Because of" means because of the names of many actions, which is synonymous with because of its power. "Attached to the objects of action" means that the world mostly clings to the objects of action such as coming and going because of the power of the names of many actions. The world, even the lowest cowherd's wife, has been attached to the objects of action since beginningless samsara. "In order to remove the thorn of clinging" means that because clinging to the objects of action itself is like a poisonous arrow, it is called a thorn, and it is to eliminate them. "If one action of the characteristic of going is eliminated" means that among the many actions such as coming and going, if one action of the characteristic of going is eliminated. "It is easy to eliminate the remaining actions" means that it is also easy to eliminate the remaining actions such as birth and death. "Therefore, the former position should be established first" means that because one wants to carry out elimination, if there is no former position, one cannot state the elimination, therefore, here one must first establish the former position that is not contrary to the non-existence of the object of action.
