It is said that the second chapter on analysis is composed because of fear. This is what is taught: In the first chapter on analysis, the opposing aspects that show that everything is unborn are as follows: birth, cessation, annihilation, permanence, coming, going, different meanings, and one meaning. Whatever is established, the second chapter on analysis is composed because of the desire to eliminate these. Therefore, it should be understood that the word "because" is the meaning of the cause that enters into the vow. Or, the opposing aspects that show that all things are unborn in the first chapter on analysis refer to what those who claim that things arise from self, other, both, or no cause have said in their respective previous schools. Eliminating these is not only done by the first chapter on analysis, but also by other chapters on analysis. Therefore, it is said that the second chapter on analysis is composed because of the desire to eliminate the opposing aspects that show that all things are unborn in the first chapter on analysis. The "chapter on analysis" refers to where the nature of those who have determined the meaning of words is distinguished, that is the chapter on analysis. Others say that the second chapter on analysis is composed for the sake of students who have developed faith by hearing the reasoning of non-arising, and for the sake of hearing the refutation of going and coming, which are commonly known in the world. This is to say that at the time of composing the second chapter on analysis, the commentator, Acharya Buddhapalita, says this. Thus, in his own commentary on the Root Verses on the Middle Way, Buddhapalita says, "Because your reasoning of non-arising has been well shown subsequently, it has turned my mind from hearing emptiness to having a rare essence. Please tell me more about how the direct perception of going and coming in the world is unreasonable." Because (this passage) appears in the (text). Others say, "That is unreasonable," and so on. Therefore, it shows that the commentator himself establishes that Buddhapalita's explanation is unreasonable. The so-called "non-other" means not other, but oneself, the commentator.

Therefore, the commentator says: It should not be said that the commentary of the venerable Buddha Palita is unreasonable. Why is it unreasonable? If there are three kinds of disciples: those with perverse minds, those with doubts, and those who do not understand, none of these three should ask about the meaning of what the venerable Buddha Palita said. Briefly, to show that it is not appropriate to ask a disciple with a perverse mind. One whose mind is perverted by seeming valid cognition should not be asked about that meaning, because it is the reason for saying that there is going and there is birth, which is the reason for speaking of inference. Among them, 'by seeming valid cognition' means that it is not a clear inference, nor is it only that, because the letters, words, and speech are extremely impure, or it is a seeming inference, or it is not of the nature of words and not of the nature of meaning, but in reality it shows that there is birth, there is coming, there is going, and so on. 'One whose mind is perverted' means that the disciple's mind is perverted by seeming valid cognition, that is, he is increasingly attached to the existence of birth, coming, going, and so on. 'It is not appropriate to ask about that meaning' means that the disciple whose mind is perverted by seeming valid cognition should not ask about the meaning of what the venerable Buddha Palita said, so it is unreasonable. Why is it not appropriate to ask about that meaning? Therefore, it is the reason for saying that there is going and there is birth, which is the reason for speaking of inference. If one shows that there is no birth and no going for one whose mind is perverted, then with inferences that show that there is birth and there is going, etc., it is reasonable to abide in refutation. Thus it is shown: One whose mind is perverted by seeming valid cognition, to the Madhyamika, you do not

Since this reasoning has been revealed, my mind has developed a sense of wonder and essence in listening to emptiness. Since this is the case, why say more about how going and coming in worldly appearance are unreasonable? Because it is not appropriate to ask such a question. Therefore, the explanation of the venerable Buddhapālita is unreasonable. To show that a student with doubts should not ask such a question, it is said: How can it be reasonable to say that there is no going in ultimate reality to someone whose mind is confused by what appears to be valid cognition? Because this question is not in accordance with the rules. To a student whose mind is confused and doubtful by what appears to be valid cognition, it is unreasonable to say that there is no going in ultimate reality. Since this is the case, why say more about how going and coming in worldly appearance are unreasonable? Because asking in this way is not in accordance with the rules. Because someone who doubts whether going exists or not will not develop faith in it. Therefore, asking in this way is not in accordance with the rules. If it is said that one asks in this way in order to dispel doubt, even so, it is not good to say that the second chapter is composed for the purpose of wanting to hear the refutation of going and coming that are commonly accepted in the world. Because this connection has the faults of self-contradiction and worldly contradiction. Like this, going and coming are refuted in ultimate reality, but not in conventional reality. Therefore, the second chapter is not composed for the sake of a student with doubts. Therefore, the explanation of the venerable Buddhapālita is unreasonable. To show that a student who does not understand should not ask such a question, it is said: If we examine whether this is a question of ignorance, then the treatise will become the object of ordinary people's behavior. Ignorance refers to a student who does not understand and is foolish. His question is never acceptable, because it is not appropriate to compose a treatise for him. If a treatise is composed for him, then this treatise will become the object of ordinary fools, therefore it is not acceptable. Why is it not acceptable? Like this, the treatises of Madhyamaka
