The term "becoming a limb" refers to the distinction of birth, and is a synonym for the term conventional truth. The term "becoming the common object of childish minds" is also a distinction of birth, and is a synonym for becoming the object grasped by the minds of even cowherd's wives. The term "having seen" means that from causes such as seeds, fruits, sprouts, etc., appear to arise even though they did not exist before. If someone says that, from the ultimate point of view, the internal sources of birth such as the eye are also considered to be born, then it means that just as birth occurs in the conventional truth, it is also considered to be born in the ultimate truth. As a response to this statement, the commentator here explains for that reason: If that is absent, yet from those causes it can arise, then consider, why does the fruit not arise from non-causes as well? This is what was said. The term "if that is absent" means if the fruits, sprouts, etc., did not exist before. The term "from those causes it can arise" means if it can arise later from those causes such as seeds. The term "then consider, why does the fruit not arise from non-causes as well?" means, then consider, from non-causes, which refers to those of different kinds of causes, why do fruits, sprouts, etc., not arise? Therefore, this would become a flawed statement. Therefore, the term "because this is a flawed statement" indicates this: if fruits, etc., did not exist before, but can arise later from causes such as seeds, then for non-causes it is the same, because the fruits, etc., did not exist before, why would the fruit not arise from non-causes? Because this would become a flawed statement that other opponents could criticize, that is not permissible. If it is not permissible because it is a flawed statement, then how should the meaning be determined here? Therefore, it is stated that "just as the fruit does not arise from non-causes, it is also certain that it does not arise from causes." This shows that just as it does not arise from non-causes, such as grains, etc.,
