If it is said that "it is the all-pervading lord, because it is blissful at all times," since that lord is not established, there is no all-pervading lord without a basis, so just as the reason "because it is blissful at all times" is not established. Here too, because there is no consciousness in the ultimate sense, because the basis is not established, there is also no action. Because the action has conditions, it produces its own result, so the meaning of this reason is also not established. In general, even if it is said that way, it is the meaning of contradiction itself. The action of generating the nature of consciousness, having conditions, is the object of conventional consciousness, because if it does not exist, it does not arise. This indicates that if the other party says this: The Madhyamikas admit that the action of generating consciousness having conditions is conventional, and we admit it is ultimate, so the meaning of the reason will be established for both of us. Therefore, the action of generating consciousness in the ultimate sense, the conditions of the eye, form, light, space, and attention, etc., because they have conditions, they produce their own result. Even if it is said that way in general, then your reason "because it has conditions" is the meaning of contradiction itself. In this way, you think that the reason known to us Madhyamikas is conventional, therefore, the action of generating the nature of consciousness, having conditions, is the object of apprehension of conventional consciousness. Therefore, using it to establish that the action of generating consciousness in the ultimate sense has conditions and produces its own result is the meaning of contradiction itself. Why? Because if it does not exist, it does not arise. In this way, the action of generating the nature of consciousness having conditions, and being the object of conventional consciousness, these two are related by the characteristic of not arising if they do not exist. If it is said that there is no action of generating the nature of consciousness having conditions, then "being the object of conventional consciousness" will not arise. If it is said that there is no "being the object of conventional consciousness," then the action of generating the nature of consciousness having conditions also

The so-called having will not occur. For example, if there is no fire, there will be no smoke, and if there is no smoke, there will be no fire. Here also, the act of generating the self-nature of consciousness, having arisen dependently, is only established in the realm of conventional consciousness, not in the realm of ultimate consciousness. Therefore, you say that in the ultimate sense, the act of generating consciousness has arisen dependently, so it can produce its own fruit. This statement is untenable because it is a contradictory principle. In response to this, others say, what use is it to us that other things are produced from self, other, and so on? For example, the eyes and so on are the cause of generating eye consciousness, just as the stove and so on are the act of cooking. In order to refute this statement of the production of things, it is said that "action does not have conditions." This is because the act of generating consciousness is unreasonable when consciousness has arisen, has not arisen, and is arising. This is an explanation. That is to say, the first root of the verse "action does not have conditions" is explained in this context, and the teacher Buddhapālita explains it in this way. The "to this" here refers to the occasion of explaining the first root of the verse "action does not have conditions." The word "other" refers to those other than the usual commentators of this treatise, and is associated with the Venerable Buddhapālita. The Venerable Buddhapālita, wanting to explain the first root of this verse, first stated the prior view: what use is it to us that other things are produced from self, other, and so on? For example, the eyes and so on are the cause of generating eye consciousness, just as the stove and so on are the act of cooking. This is to explain the production of things. Among them, "other" refers to the fact that others who advocate production explain the production of things to the Venerable Buddhapālita.
