Furthermore, out of compassion for those who disturb the intelligence by asserting causes and dissimilar causes, in order to show how the truth of designation exists, it should be known that the causes, object, immediately preceding condition, and dominant condition were taught. Having said that, "asserting no cause" refers to those who assert the tenets of the Lokayata. "Asserting dissimilar causes" refers to those who assert the tenets of Ishvara and so forth. "People whose intelligence is disturbed" refers to those whose intelligence, that is, wisdom, is disturbed and confused by those who assert no cause and dissimilar causes; these are called people whose intelligence is disturbed by asserting no cause and dissimilar causes. "Out of compassion" refers to the fact that the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha is compassionate towards these people and rescues them from falling into the lower realms; this is compassion for the people whose intelligence is disturbed by asserting no cause and dissimilar causes. "In order to show how the truth of designation exists" refers to showing and clarifying how, from beginningless time, the conventional truth, that is, the external and internal causes such as seeds and warmth, give rise to the designations of phenomena such as sprouts and eyes. "It should be known that the causes, object, immediately preceding condition, and dominant condition were taught" refers to what is said in the Abhidharma treatises: "The four produce mind and mental factors, the three produce two samapattis, the others arise from the two in order, not made by Ishvara and so forth." It should be understood that mind and mental factors are produced by four conditions: the causal condition, the objective condition, the immediately preceding condition, and the dominant condition. Among these, the causal condition is all five causes. The objective condition is, as appropriate, the five objects and all phenomena. The immediately preceding condition is the previous mind and mental factors, and other things that are not interrupted. The dominant condition is all phenomena except for its own nature.

The two non-cognitive absorptions are produced by three conditions: the causal condition, the immediately preceding condition, and the dominant condition. These two (non-cognitive absorptions) do not have an objective condition, because they are not objects of focus. The causal condition for these two is of two types: the co-emergent cause is birth, etc., and the homogenous cause is the previously arisen virtuous dharmas of the same type. The immediately preceding condition is the mind that is similar to and accompanied by the mind of absorption. The dominant condition is all dharmas except for one's own nature. These absorptions arise from the mind's manifest attention, so they are the immediately preceding condition of the mind. Because they obstruct the arising of the mind, they are not the homogenous immediately preceding condition. Other non-associated formations and form dharmas arise from two conditions: the causal condition and the dominant condition. All things arise only from the causes and conditions described above. There is no single cause such as Ishvara, Purusha, or Prakriti. If Ishvara or something else were the sole cause, then all things should arise simultaneously, because things appear to arise sequentially. Therefore, it should be known that the Buddha has said that a single cause such as Ishvara does not exist. Therefore, there will be no contradiction of the commitment. What has been said before should also be studied here. If one acknowledges that the Buddha spoke of conditions in conventional truth and then refutes them in conventional truth, then one would be contradicting the commitment. Similarly, if one acknowledges that there is arising in ultimate truth and then proves that there is no arising in ultimate truth, then one would also be contradicting the commitment. I acknowledge that the Buddha spoke of conditions in conventional truth, but I refute them in ultimate truth, and I acknowledge that there is arising in conventional truth, but there is no arising in ultimate truth. Therefore, there will be no fault of contradicting the commitment, no fault of reputation, no fault of direct perception, no fault of inference, and no fault of one's own words. Or, to analyze differently
