Alas, the great earth lord is born! Alas! This world is completely seized by mutual strife, and seeing them engaged in the smoke of malice and hatred, Dharma should be taught for the sake of abandoning the smoke of malice and hatred for them. Alas! This world is endowed with perversion and has entered a perilous path, dwelling on a misguided path. They should be placed on the correct path. Alas! The beings of this world are greedy and overwhelmed by desire. They are not content and plunder the wealth of others. They should be made to rejoice in the noble wealth of faith, discipline, learning, generosity, wisdom, conscience, and shame. Alas! These sentient beings are enslaved by craving for sons and daughters, homes, wealth, and grain. They perceive what is without essence as having essence. The utter impermanence should be taught to them. Alas! These sentient beings live by improper means, dwelling in mutual deception. Dharma is taught so that their livelihood may be completely purified. Alas! These sentient beings do not know rituals. Even by engaging in gain, respect, and praise, they hold the thought, "We are content." They should be made to know that which is the utterly peaceful and blissful cessation of suffering, the utterly contented Nirvana. Alas! These sentient beings are always delighted in the abode of the household, a vessel of suffering, completely afflicted. Dharma is taught so that they may be disgusted with it and completely transcend the triple realm. All dharmas approach through causes. If their nature is to abide closely through practice, then sentient beings are lazy towards the noble liberation. Dharma is taught by initiating diligence so that they may be devoted to liberation. Sentient beings abandon this stainless, supreme, and extraordinary pure wisdom, this utterly transcendent and completely peaceful Nirvana, and seek the inferior paths of the Hearers' Vehicle and the Solitary Buddhas' Vehicle. For them, so that they may focus on the wisdom of the Buddha, their minds should be inclined towards the vast. Thus, great compassion arises in the Tathagata for sentient beings.

Son of lineage, if one possesses these thirty-two aspects, then great compassion of the Tathagata arises for sentient beings. Therefore, the Tathagata is said to abide in great compassion. Son of lineage, whichever Bodhisattva generates great compassion endowed with these thirty-two aspects for sentient beings, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is a field of merit, flourishing with great splendor, irreversible, and should be known to be diligent in the benefit of sentient beings. This can be known from what was said. Thus, with wisdom that greatly generates joy through supreme compassion, cherishing the world and guiding beings with the supreme vehicle to realize the precious jewel of dependent origination, he contemplated: "Since I am not liberated, to liberate others is not the place. If I have not attained Buddhahood myself, I will not be able to liberate those who wander in the dense web of proliferation such as birth and death in the world, and I will not be able to rescue those who have no light. Therefore, I must first strive to accomplish the cause of Buddhahood." Thinking thus, for countless billions of kalpas, he undertook the burden of immeasurable accumulations of merit and wisdom. For how long did the Buddha, the Bhagavan, manifest the accomplishment of the cause of Buddhahood? Therefore, it is said, "For countless billions of kalpas." That is, for three countless kalpas. For how long did the Buddha, the Bhagavan, manifest the accomplishment of what cause? Therefore, it is said, "Why accumulate immeasurable merit and wisdom?" Among them, the accumulation of merit refers to the three perfections of generosity, ethics, and patience. The accumulation of wisdom refers to the two perfections of meditation and wisdom. The perfection of diligence is the nature of both accumulations, because both contain diligence. Or, when all the perfections are shown to others, then everything is the nature of Dharma-giving, which is the accumulation of merit. When all the perfections are given,
