Therefore, remembering the Buddha is the nature of having no remembrance and no mental engagement. As stated in the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra: "Remembering the Buddha is having no remembrance and no mental engagement." Similarly, in the Dharani for Accomplishing Limitless Doors, it says: "He only cultivates the remembrance of the Buddha, not from form, not from marks and signs, not from qualities, not from Dharma, not from non-Dharma," and so on. Similarly, in the Tathāgata Chapter, it says: "Seeing the Tathāgata is seeing emptiness, seeing no signs, seeing no aspirations, seeing no birth, seeing no cessation, seeing no arising, seeing no entities, and seeing no manifest mental activity." Similarly, in the Sutra Taught by Inexhaustible Intelligence, it says: "What is the remembrance of the Buddha? It is that which is not distinguished by form and marks, not distinguished by birth, lineage, and time, not distinguished by the white conduct of the previous end, not distinguished by the conceited knowledge of the later end, and not distinguished by the present abiding. It is that which is not the basis of all obscurations, not the source of all signs, and in which all conceptions, discriminations, and complete discriminations are pacified." Such is the like. Regarding the practice of familiarizing oneself with this, there is the verse: "From parting with pleasure, meeting displeasure, From where does the suffering that arises come? Not stained by worldly dharmas, Like a lotus unstained by water." This means that because pleasure and displeasure have no object of focus, therefore, being separated from pleasure and encountering displeasure, the feelings of suffering that arise will not arise in him. Although he dwells in the world, he is not stained by the eight worldly dharmas, namely, gain and loss, pleasant and unpleasant, happiness and suffering, praise and blame, because he has no attachment to them, just as a lotus, although born from water, is not stained by the faults of water. Non-abiding Nirvana has been previously explained, but now it comes to this section again.

It should be declared thus: It is not liberation from samsara. This is because the afflictions have not been abandoned. It is not freedom from the harm of samsara. This is because non-virtuous dharmas are not manifestly accumulated, and because the afflictions are suppressed. It is not attainment of nirvana. This is because of looking at sentient beings. It is like dwelling in nirvana. This is because it is possible to accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. There is no torment by the fire of afflictions. This is because the pervasive enjoyment of afflictions has been abandoned. Even with afflictions, it is like the sky. This is because even if there are small afflictions that are the seeds of generating samsara, one is not stained by them. It is not without mind, it is not without mind. This is because the entering consciousness has ceased, and because there is a ripening consciousness. If asked, how is it so? Because he dwells in samadhi. This is because through extreme familiarity with dhyana, the body and mind become workable, and thus the cessation samadhi is attained. Even having attained supramundane samadhi, but since enlightenment has not been realized, while dwelling in non-abiding nirvana, He is like the peak of a mountain of wisdom, Having ascended and become without sorrow, Yet by the power of compassion, he sees The suffering and sorrow of the world. This is because supramundane wisdom is vast and manifestly high, so it is like the peak of a mountain. Ascending there is becoming extremely stable through hearing, thinking, and meditating. Even having become without sorrow, this is because he has realized the illusory nature of dharmas, so he himself has become without sorrow. By the power of compassion, this is because his mindstream dwells in compassion. Seeing the world tormented by sorrow and suffering, this refers to observing the people of the world whose minds are tormented by sorrow like fire due to separation from parents, and who are constantly associated with suffering that is connected to impermanence.
