Therefore, in order to refute as before, if it cannot be expressed like a vase, then how can one desire to become a Buddha? That which is called the aggregates themselves are not the Buddha, and that which is other than the aggregates themselves is also not the Buddha. If it is said that it cannot be expressed as being either the same or different, then, because that is not a real thing, it is not existent as a substance; because it is unspeakable, it will become like a vase, ceasing to be a Buddha; in order to refute as before, it is also unreasonable to say that it is unspeakable; therefore, it is also shown that the Buddha is unborn. Therefore, the scripture says: "The Tathagata is always the unborn Dharma, all Dharmas are like the Sugata. Those with childish minds who grasp at signs, in these worlds, practice in the absence of Dharmas. The Tathagata is the stainless virtuous, the image of the Dharma is in this, there is no suchness nor Tathagata, yet in all the worlds, images appear everywhere." As it is said, and as it is said, "Manjushri is unborn and unceasing," etc., these are the words of the Tathagata refuting elaboration, and these are also established. If someone thinks like this: The sources are only those that have origination, because seeing dependent origination, one sees the Dharma and the Buddha. Because seeing that the elephant in a dream is non-existent, it is not said in the scriptures that one sees the Dharma and the Buddha. It is said: "Whoever sees dependent origination, sees the Dharma; whoever sees the Dharma, sees the Buddha." Therefore, if one thinks that the nature of dependent origination, the sources, are only those that have origination, then what is said here, "Because seeing dependent origination, one sees the Dharma and the Buddha, the sources are not desired to originate, because they have been refuted as before," means that because at the beginning of this treatise it has already been explained that there is no arising from oneself, the other, both, and without a cause, thereby refuting the examination of origination and non-origination, both, etc., and the other, since it has already been refuted, then how can it be said that seeing it, one can see the Dharma and the Buddha? The meaning is

That itself should also be examined. I and others are not without cause. They are not existent or nonexistent, permanent or impermanent. Because there is no birth of other and non-other, permanence and annihilation are completely abandoned. Birth is neither existent nor nonexistent. Where is that which is neither existent nor nonexistent? Seeing that, one will see the teacher. How should one know? This means that if birth truly exists, then seeing it will also lead to seeing the Dharma and the Buddha. If birth itself is difficult to point out in the way it has been shown, then how can there be seeing it there? If one does not see it, how can one hope to see the Dharma and the Buddha? Therefore, the words of the essentialists, their desires are completely ruined. This means that because essence does not exist, the seeing of things is also not established, so think about it. Someone says: Is it only that there is no dependent arising? Because one does not see it, does one also not see the Dharma and the Buddha? The answer is: For whom birth is illusory, birth exists, that is possible. What is possible? In order to eliminate the stain of the faults that have been spoken, in order to fully reveal the lamp of the true Dharma, through the way the author benefits, one can see the Buddha in the conventional sense. This means that the faults of saying existent and nonexistent etc. are themselves stains. By eliminating and separating from them, the name of dependent arising is the lamp of the true Dharma, dispelling the darkness of ignorance. In order to fully reveal what has been said, through the way the author benefits, one can see the Buddha in the conventional sense. Why? If one sees the selflessness of the aggregation of dependent arising with conventional knowledge, then the Dharma that is inseparable from it, possessing excellent marks etc., powers etc., fearlessness etc., and the Buddha who is the selflessness of the aggregation of unmixed Buddha qualities etc. can also be seen. Then, is it not seeing that in the ultimate sense? No. How is it? The answer is: That is not seeing that nature, because it is like an illusion and not real. This means that if one truly analyzes dependent arising, because there is no object to be focused on in the various aggregations of causes and conditions, it is like a creation of illusion.
