"When attaining Nirvana, it neither transcends nor exists." Although two situations have been mentioned, at the time of attaining Nirvana, because the continuum of the aggregates is severed, it does not transcend the boundary of annihilation, but only becomes annihilation. Furthermore, "If what is extinguished will be reborn, then how is it not permanent? If what is extinguished will not be reborn, then how is it not a nihilist?" This means, after an Asura is extinguished, will it be born into the aggregates of the gods, or will it not be born? If it is born, then how is it not permanent? Because even if it is extinguished, it will be reborn. If it is not reborn, then how is it not a nihilist? Because after the aggregates of the Asura are extinguished, they will never be reborn. If someone thinks that the continuum is permanent, because the previous aggregates are extinguished, it is not permanent; and because the later aggregates are produced, it is not annihilation. To this, it is explained: "Continuum is not substantial, where are permanence and annihilation?" This means that the continuum, represented by the momentary arising and ceasing of before and after, is not substantially existent. Even in conventional truth, it can be established that there is no permanence and no annihilation. But in ultimate truth, the aggregates of actions that have ceased have no connection with arising, and the aggregates of actions that arise have no connection with ceasing. Apart from these two, there is no permanence and annihilation, so it can be established as a non-permanent and non-annihilated substantial thing. There is no such thing that exists. "Because there is no it, therefore it is not born, impermanence and non-annihilation are reasonable." This means that when a thing is born, its long-lasting existence is permanence, and the complete destruction of a born thing is annihilation. A thing that has not been born will neither become permanent nor become annihilated. Therefore, as we wish, in ultimate truth, it is established that there is no arising, so it is impermanent and non-annihilated, but the continuum that you believe in is unreasonable. Furthermore, we must refute and examine the situation where one's own sect is refuted by other means: If suffering does not arise...

Furthermore, if someone argues that Buddhas teach the Dharma, and because that teaching has results, therefore rebirth exists, this statement presents a preliminary viewpoint based on the opponent's thinking: the five aggregates, known as suffering, certainly exist, because the Blessed One teaches the Dharma in order to prevent suffering from arising. This is because, for something that does not exist, the Blessed One would not teach the Dharma in order to prevent it from arising, just as one would not teach the Dharma for the son of a barren woman. And for the existence of suffering, the Blessed One also proclaimed the Dharma called "the Path" in order to prevent it from arising. Through hearing, thinking, meditating, and habituation, we see that Arhats and other noble beings possess the result of no-birth. Therefore, because the teaching of the Dharma has results, the cycle of suffering certainly exists. To answer this question, it is stated as follows: If you think in this way, that the cycle of suffering exists, if you want suffering to arise, but it does not arise as before, because no-birth is not the result of teaching the Dharma, completely understanding suffering is the result. The meaning of this statement is, as the treatise itself, I have previously explained that suffering does not arise from self, other, both, or without cause. Therefore, no-birth is not the result of teaching the Dharma. So what is it? Completely understanding suffering, that is, completely understanding the no-birth of suffering, this is the result of teaching the Dharma, so what is the use of clinging to birth? So, how can one completely understand the no-birth of suffering? Suffering cannot be produced by itself, because acting on itself is contradictory. For example, the road cannot walk itself, and the root of the finger cannot touch the tip of the finger. Suffering is also not produced by the cause of suffering, that is, by another, because another acting on another is contradictory. For example, rice
