Having perfectly accumulated virtuous deeds, when the six realms of sentient beings—hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals, gods, demigods, and humans—are seen as a festival of kumuda flowers (water lilies), then even when afflicted by the sufferings of death, seeking, pride, pain, mutual devouring, hunger, and so on, there will be no weariness of the prison of existence. If they are not tainted by these existences and the faults that depend on them, why do they remain in existence and not enter into nirvana? Therefore, it is said: They do not dwell in existence because they see faults, They do not dwell in nirvana because of love, For the sake of accomplishing the benefit of others, those who have taken vows Also dwell in existence. Thus it is said, because they see many faults and shortcomings, they do not choose to dwell in existence, and because they strive to completely protect all realms of sentient beings, they also do not enter the realm of nirvana. Those who have taken vows to accomplish the benefit of others, with minds controlled by compassion, like a lotus, are not tainted by the defilements of the world and also dwell in existence. As it is said: He who fully reveals the nature of where to go, The Tathagata himself is the one who naturally attains it, Striving for the benefit of others, your qualities, How much can a praiser praise with praise? Thus it appears. Samsara and nirvana, two and not two are not perceived, the wise do not dwell anywhere, but also dwell in existence. Because samsara and nirvana are the same in essence, the wise who do not perceive samsara and liberation as two or not two do not dwell anywhere, but also appear to dwell in the three realms of existence. Therefore, the teacher will show the non-abiding nirvana of the bodhisattvas, as it is said: Because bodhisattvas are free by knowing all dharmas completely, dwelling together with the three realms and falling into nirvana is neither a place nor an occasion, and so on. The benefit of self and others is complete.
