That is. The term "chief" and so forth refers to the twenty-five realities examined by the Samkhya school, namely: chief, great, ego, five cognitive faculties, five active faculties, self, five tanmatras, five great elements, and purusha. Among these, the chief is nature itself, the unmanifest state in which joy, sorrow, and darkness are in equal measure. The great is another name for intellect. Ego refers to that which boasts of "I" and "mine." The five cognitive faculties are eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body. The five active faculties are speech, hand, foot, anus, and genitals. Mind is the nature of both cognitive and active faculties. The five tanmatras are also called the five objects, namely: form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. The five great elements are earth, water, fire, wind, and space. Purusha refers to that which has consciousness, the twenty-fifth. As described above, these are the "chief" and so forth. The term "life" and so forth refers to the nine meanings of words established by the Jains, namely: life, influx, restraint, fixed old age, bondage, karma, sin, merit, and liberation. Among these, life refers to the nine categories of sentient beings, namely: earth, water, tree, fire, wind, worm, ant, bee, and human. Among these, earth, water, tree, fire, and wind are all one-sensed, because they possess the sense of touch. Worms, shells, fish, lotus worms, and so forth are two-sensed, because they possess the two senses of touch and taste. Ants, fireflies, and so forth are three-sensed, because they possess the senses of touch, taste, and smell. Bees, flies, long-beaked flies, and so forth are four-sensed, because they possess the senses of touch, taste, smell, and sight. Humans, quadrupeds, birds, and so forth are five-sensed, because they possess the senses of touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing.

Because it possesses. Thus, those are the nine meanings of the word 'life'. Leakage is virtuous and non-virtuous actions, because it is the cause of leakage. Discipline is the prevention of leakage itself, because it does not accumulate the sand of karma. Definite joy is that discipline itself, not eating food and not drinking beverages, and meditation and union, etc., with asceticism, cause the previously accumulated karma to definitely ripen, because it is the cause of exhaustion. Bondage is the three hundred and sixty-three kinds of wrong views that are definitely proclaimed. Karma is of four kinds, namely, that which will be experienced later, and name, lineage, and life. Sin is non-dharma. Merit is dharma. Liberation is, all karma being exhausted, going to the place called the gathering of the world, above all the worlds, as it is said, the Victorious One said: The color of snow-white broad fragrant flowers, the color of milk curd pearl, like the shape of holding a white umbrella, the Victorious One said is liberation. Like saying that, like that, those are life and so on. Other than those, whatever knowable things are completely conceived by other non-Buddhists, whether conditioned or unconditioned, whatever it may be, I also am completely accustomed to reason and scripture, without doubt, the fearless wise ones should refute them as appropriate. Among them, whatever is conditioned, that should be refuted in the same way by the conception of the conditioned. Whatever is unconditioned, that should be refuted in the same way by the conception of the unconditioned. Thus, because of being established by self and others, for all things, conceiving of self, the wise should realize no-self, and drink the nectar of knowing that. It is said that, others, for all the limits established by self and others, for all things, conceiving of self and self-nature as existent, the wise yogi should, in the manner as taught, realize that self and things are without self-nature, and understand the ultimate truth, the non-conceptual wisdom, in the manner of knowing without self-nature, one should strive to taste the flavor of the nectar of knowing that, that is the meaning. Or, the continuous connection of the net of conceptual thoughts, those and so on.

Because of clinging to the arising of things, it strongly deludes children. When the wise one illuminates with the lamp of wisdom, they fully realize things as they truly are. At that time, the cessation of birth and death brings peace, and all elaborations subside into tranquility. This means that striving to show that things are devoid of inherent existence is not the right approach. Why? Because all the continuous networks of conceptual proliferation, which are constructed by oneself and others, arise from clinging to the belief that things have birth. Therefore, they strongly delude children, those who are obscured by ignorance and whose eyes of wisdom are not open, causing the unwise to fall into delusion. Therefore, when a wise yogi, with the lamp of immaculate wisdom, opens the eye of wisdom well, and with impartial wisdom, fully realizes that things are without inherent birth, at that time, seeing all things as illusory, without inherent birth, and because of stopping birth, the defilement of conceptual proliferation ceases, and all verbal elaborations subside into tranquility. Therefore, one should rely on that method all at once. If asked how to understand those things as unborn, some say that things arise from themselves, some say from others, some say from both, some say from no cause, and some say from the power of Ishvara, Purusha, Pradhana, time, or the son of a barren woman. Among them, the Samkhyas say that things arise from themselves. For them, it is said: "Among these, the self-arising is not reasonable even in conventional truth. Because the self exists, if we take an example, just as yogurt does not arise from itself." The term "from self" is synonymous with "from itself." Thus, if things were to arise from themselves, they should arise even without causes and conditions. But such a thing is not seen even in the world, let alone in ultimate truth. The term "because the self exists" means that "self" is that which is united with its own nature. The meaning of "having self-nature" is "self." Its object is "self-nature." Its
