When the mind ceases, when it arises facing the present, with what and to what does one desire attachment? One does not desire attachment to any attachment. This means that if we label the mind that arises together with desire as 'attachment,' then at the time when it arises only while facing cessation, how can that mind, which is of the nature of cessation, be attached to anything with what desire? Furthermore, when that which is attached ceases and decays, one does not desire attachment to arise even in attachment, because the arising of attachment would be meaningless. One does not desire attachment to be present even in a moment of mind that is not attachment, just as it is free from attachment. If it is attached while arising? What is that if it is manifestly directed towards arising? This means that if the mind becomes attached while it is arising, is that which is arising something that has already arisen or something that has not yet arisen? If it is manifestly directed towards arising, then it is not something that has already arisen, because it is not yet complete. It is also not something that has not yet arisen, because activity is taking place. If that is the case, then one does not desire it in the unarisen, because activity without a basis is not possible. This is how it will become. In this way, activity depends on the agent, just as, for example, 'Devadatta eats.' Since that which is arising is unarisen because its own nature is not yet complete, how can it possess the activity of arising? If that which is arising is not something that can be expressed, then since it cannot be expressed as either arisen or unarisen, there is no attachment to that which is arising, arisen, or unarisen, which is inexpressible. The inexpressible mind is also not attachment, because it is inexpressible, just like desire. This is how it will become, because desire is also not something that can be expressed as either the nature of attachment or the nature of non-attachment. Just as there is no attachment from desire, so too is it with the mind, which is the concluding statement. If the mind is of attachment, and the form that arises desires attachment, like a mind stained with color on knowledge, how is that mind itself attachment? This means that attachment, especially attachment, and desire are different names, and the complete transformation of the forms of those minds is desired as attachment,
