It is not the case that everything is as it is. Because it is said that it is taught by knowing the past and the future. Knowing the past and the future itself also exists in pretas and others. But not everything they say is true. Therefore, the reasons need to be analyzed. Pretas, rakshasas, yakshas, etc. can also know a little about the past and the future, but not all. For example, just as vultures know dead bodies, and crows and ants know when it will rain. Similarly, Atreya and Guangzeng and other heretical teachers can also know some things, but not all. Therefore, not everything they say is logical and needs to be analyzed. Just like the words of the teachers who know the past and the future, are these three paths as they really are? Or, like the words of the pretas and others who know the past and the future, is it something that does not really exist? In addition, if it is said that "this dharma etc. exists here, and that dharma also exists there," sometimes it is like worm-eaten words, and some good explanations are seen. Among these three, there is no pure dharma seen. Sometimes seeing fragments of dharma in some things is like worm-eaten words. For example, a worm called "merit" eats wood, and sometimes traces similar to words appear, but in reality it does not have the ability to recognize words. In addition, just as in a pile of unclean corpses, sometimes treasures are found. If a person with the ability to discern sees it, he will know that this treasure came from the treasure mountain in the sea, not from this pile of unclean corpses, and he will also know its power, knowing that it has the power to pacify diseases and eliminate toxins. Occasionally seeing some good explanations in the third (referring to heretics) is similar to this. Families and streets do not produce treasures from piles of unclean corpses.

Among the three views that are like an impure body filled with many faults such as false speech, even if some precious Dharmas like gold can be seen, those who are skilled in examining precious things will have such knowledge: This kind of Dharma does not originate from here, but is extracted from the scriptures of the Buddha and others and mixed into it. Just as precious things such as vaidurya do not arise from the alleys between villages where ordinary people often go in and out. Therefore, just as stirring donkey milk produces an impure smell, so are the words of the heretics. Some people think that those who mainly rely on reasoning to refute the three paths (right path, wrong path, middle path) are like blind people who can hardly avoid falling into the cliff. This statement is also unreasonable. Because, with faultless reasoning, before distinguishing whether it is reasonable or not, the mind is caused by others, so there will be doubts about other doctrines. There are three types of students: When seeing other doctrines, they have doubts such as "Is it like this? Is it not like this?"; they are too invested in and attached to one doctrine, hate other doctrines in their hearts, and fall into inverted views; for all doctrines, they can neither distinguish whether they are reasonable nor lack the wisdom of understanding. For those who have doubts or fall into inverted attachments due to other doctrines, they cannot distinguish whether it is reasonable or not without reasoning. Just as those who want to cross a big river will completely rely on boats, even if it should be abandoned, reasoning should be used. Just as those who want to cross a big river rely on tools such as boats to reach the other shore, and abandon them after arriving there, similarly, those who want to cross the river of knowledge should also completely rely on the boat of reasoning, and after understanding knowledge, they should also abandon it. Therefore, even if it should be abandoned, even if it should be discarded, it should be used temporarily.

Because that is the action itself. Because without it, it is impossible to see Suchness. Thus, having taught by praising the two disciples, in order to greatly teach the disciples without speculative minds, it is said: Merely following the sound, following the footsteps of those who have passed, like a blind person, in this mandala, the wanderer revolves in samsara. Just as a blind person cannot see for himself, and merely follows the sound made by others, those people cannot transcend dangerous places. Similarly, ignorant children merely follow the sound of so-called scriptures, and they cannot be liberated from the cycle of the three realms. Therefore, merely following the sound is easy to fall, so it is said: Blind people without support, like going to a dangerous place, those who mainly rely on sound, it is not difficult to fall. Just as a blind person has no support such as a cane, and is not guided by someone with eyes, but merely hears a sound and follows it, going to a dangerous path, that is indeed a place of falling. But having support, walking from the well-guided path of ease, one will not become a victim of falling. Similarly, with the wisdom of discrimination, the Suchness of the meaning of things, which is determined by the eye of inference, that is the object of focus. Not focusing on Suchness, but wanting to be liberated from samsara, like a blind person following the scriptures written by the ignorant, one will eventually fall into samsara. Those who see Suchness, indeed depart from the path of ease of careful discernment, that is, the Noble Eightfold Path, relying on the three doors of liberation, and they will not fall into the precipice of samsara. Therefore, merely following the sound is easy to fall, so those who hold onto inference, it is not difficult to fall. What has been said is not well said. Any wise action itself is omniscient, and the omniscient person himself should abandon.
