The reasoning that follows, such as the skin and hair that come into contact with fire, and the wool clothing with the scalp shaved off, and the comfort of applying paint with a grass pen coated with dry cow dung powder, and the uncertainty of things like illusion wheels, constellations, and wheels. Even the appearance of a string of blisters at the same time is uncertain, like a deity going out to snatch flowers. Even without tasting the taste of the Amla tree, if it is nourished by milk, it will bear sweet fruit. Even without the sense of smell, a fragrant smell will arise, just like when turmeric and lotus are mixed together. Similarly, even without mind consciousness, arising at the right time is due to the virtuous and non-virtuous actions of sentient beings. Furthermore: Trees do not have mind, Because they are not included in the four modes of birth. Because they can endure being cut in the middle. Like many pigs, they are inanimate. Trees are the subject. That they do not have mind is their property. The combination of subject and property is the thesis. Because they are not included in the four modes of birth, and because they can endure being cut in the middle, these two are the reasons. That is, beings are seen to arise and originate from the four modes of birth: from eggs, from wombs, by transformation, and from moisture. Trees do not arise from these modes of birth. Furthermore, if it is said that emerging from underground and growing upwards is the fifth mode of birth, then saying that trees and the like have mind is just speculation, and this is also speculation, because it is not established in our thesis. Even if it is admitted that it is a mode of birth that emerges from underground and grows upwards, it cannot be proven that trees and the like have mind, because whatever has life, because it has sensation, is very shaky and cannot endure, but trees and the like do not shake even when cut in the middle, because they have no sensation. Whatever is not included in the four modes of birth, and whatever moves when cut in the middle,

It is also with consciousness, because it can be inferred that they are similar to tangible things, such as a piece of pork. The mention of "middle" is to avoid including the transformation of young animals, the end of scriptures, and the severed bodies of gods and asuras. Furthermore, another way to explain the thoughts of others is: If, like a centipede, touching it will shrink, then Samaga and Taljar are also considered to have consciousness, because touching it will shrink, just like a centipede. There is a creature called a centipede, which curls up as soon as it is touched. Similarly, if sunlight shines on Samaga and Taljar herbs, they will expand, and touching them will shrink. Therefore, they are considered to have consciousness. If someone thinks this way, then, hair touched by fire, etc., and hair covered with cinnabar powder, cannot be determined just because of these particularities. Hair grows from a conscious body, but even so, it has no consciousness because it does not experience feelings of pleasure and pain. When it is touched by fire, it will shrink, and when it is covered with cinnabar powder, it will also shrink. However, just because of shrinking, it cannot be determined that hair is conscious. Similarly, the reason why Samaga herbs, etc., shrink and expand is because they contain more wind elements, just like lotus flowers and other flowers bloom when sunlight shines on them. Therefore, it should be analyzed in this way: Just because it shrinks, like centipedes and other creatures, are trees necessarily conscious? Or, just like hair shrinks when touched by fire, are trees necessarily unconscious? Therefore, this argument is uncertain. If trees must be conscious, it is because they reveal the knack for classifying life spans and treating diseases, etc. For unconscious stones, etc., we have not seen any method of treatment. But for trees, there are methods such as pruning, therefore, they must be conscious.
