What kind of asceticism? Happiness follows happiness in succession. As such and so on appear, like this, it also contradicts one's own tenets. What is the use of examining the truth by fasting and so on, which causes suffering to the body? Furthermore, in the scriptures such as the "Extensive Conduct," many contradictions are seen between the earlier and later parts. For example: For a person without a son, in the world, there is no good extensive practitioner at all. How can one with a continental path, like being greeted in old age, speak? After saying such things and so on, it is said again: A young man practicing celibacy, abandoning ascetic practices, a sage then suppresses the heavenly realms, celibacy is a supreme fruit. Similarly, certainly a joyful one without affection, not fleeing on the battlefield, appearing facing the battlefield, if he dies, he will be reborn in the heavenly realms. After saying this, it is said again: Whoever, with his own malicious mind, harms others, that extensive practitioner, is a violent one, an agent of violence, going to a hell of extreme contempt. What is not in accordance with oneself, this should not be done to others, here is the collection of all dharmas, others should enter with desire. Do such things and so on not appear? When this was said, here it is said: Buddhists think in this way, that they themselves abide in the Dharma, speak ill of others, and curse them, but it is said that they themselves strive to eat meat. If sentient beings are not killed, then meat cannot be obtained, therefore they are devoid of compassion, like hunters and so on, they are indeed committing sins, is that so? To this it should be said: The Bhagavan, endowed with great compassion, regarding all sentient beings as an only child, cherishing them from the marrow of the bones and the soles of the feet, how could he allow the eating of meat? In the Mahayana sutras, the Bhagavan does not allow it at all, as in the sutras such as the "Elephant Strength," "Great Cloud," "Lankavatara," and "Angulimala Sutra," the eating of meat is completely prohibited. In the sutras of the Hearer Vehicle, it is said: Whatever meat is pure in three ways, food also does not become sinful, because it becomes pure and so on, just as food obtained by begging is without sin. As such appears, thus for oneself

If one has not seen the killing of animals with one's own eyes, nor heard of it, nor suspected it, then one is free from the mind of sin. Therefore, even if one eats such meat for the purpose of pacifying diseases and the like, one should not consider it to become a sin, because it will turn into bile, urine, vomit, and so on. Just as the food obtained by a beggar is eaten by the beggar, and eating it does not become a sin. Furthermore, whatever meat is eaten does not become the cause of sin, because it is the cause of averting hunger, like food given without taking. Meat is the subject. Eating it does not become the cause of sin is the predicate. It is able to avert hunger, because it is the cause of pacification. Like food and drink found without being taken at mealtime. Meat is not to be eaten, if one says that not eating belongs to the body. Seeds and stabilizers, unclean, unclean like worms. Meat is not to be eaten, if one says like feces and so on, then one's own body should also be examined, hair, nails, body hair, skin, outer skin, flesh, tendons, blood, bones, legs, kidneys, heart, lungs, liver, spleen, lobes, intestines, fat, cecum, urine, feces, saliva, dust, grease, pus, bile, mucus, oil, lymph, dirt, brain, marrow, eye mucus, earwax, and so on, filled with thirty-six kinds of impure substances, the nine gates of wounds constantly dripping with impure substances, born from impure seeds of blood and semen. Nourished by impure semen, covered with the essence of feces and vomit, this body born from the womb is extremely impure, like a worm dwelling in impurity, so what impurity is increased by eating meat? Therefore, this is nothing. If good people also think so, fish and other meats should not be eaten, because they are produced from semen and blood. Like the meat of cows and donkeys, if one says so, then this
