Surely one will go to the heavens. By what kind of reasoning? Just as clothes washed with detergent become free of stains, so too, after offering alms to sentient beings, washing the bathing place will also be pure. Those who say such things are not reasonable, because this sin will not be purified. Because of ignorance and not seeing, because of not washing and habituation, like the wisdom of mindfulness and virtuous deeds. What is called sin is a phenomenon. That it will not be purified by water is its nature. The four reasons are: being untouchable, invisible, un-washable, and existing in habituation. If something can be touched and seen as "this is here," and can be washed, like clothes and so on, then it can be purified. But sin is ungraspable, invisible, and un-washable. How then can it be purified? However, it should be known that sin arises from the habituation left by an unwholesome mind. Just as the wisdom of mindfulness and merit belonging to the continuum of sentient beings cannot be washed away by water, so too is sin. Or again, The waters of rivers like Desheg and Gampopa cannot purify sins, because they are tangible or washable, like the water of vomit in a house. The nature of the lotus heart bathing place is the lotus heart itself. The nature of what flows from the feet is what flows from the feet, the river water. It cannot purify sins, because it can be touched or wetted. If touching and wetting could purify sins, that would be impossible, just like the water of vomit in a house. Furthermore, If by nature non-merit, entering water and so on is exhausted, those who bathe in bathing places and so on, suffering does not change because there is no cause. If blind, deaf, lame, and paralyzed people, etc., who previously experienced the results of non-virtue, etc., were to bathe in the water of a bathing place and, through empowerment, completely exhaust all sins, then merely entering the water and so on would make the blind, deaf, lame, and

Fools and the like, after bathing and so on, will not experience suffering because there is no cause. Karma is not exhausted, and sins are not exhausted. "The inner self will not be extinguished," because there is such a teaching, so this is also false. If some people commit sinful deeds every day, and those who commit sins and so on, if they bathe and are initiated in bathing places and so on, they can completely exhaust sins, then there will be no sins at all. Therefore, if someone will fall into the lower realms, then, just as this sage widely said: "I am the holy river's giving bathing place, the true water's offering, the water drop's ascetic wave, acting thus and bathing therein, the inner self is not purified by water." "If the body, speech, and actions, whichever of the three are not pure, even if bathing in the three seas, one will not be without defilement." "If one can well restrain the doors of the senses, abiding in equality, then they can purify the pure land of Kuru, as well as Naimisha and the lotus heart." "Whoever can conquer greed, hatred, and delusion, those are the brave ones, in what bathing place do they bathe, what can the purifier do?" "That which has been wetted by water should not be called bathing, one who is pure both inside and out is the bathing of an ascetic." "Dust, mud, and dirt, etc., all leaks are purified by water, O King, the fruit of practicing Dharma with water is not so." "Having bathed in the Ganges and become pure, the body, speech, and mind enter, even the slightest difference is not visible to beings." "Desiring to make great offerings, O King, even if constantly bathing in bathing places, hatred and desire also increase, therefore committing sins such as killing." "Therefore, as long as the cause of defilement exists, then the water of offerings and bathing places cannot please people, just as when the wick of a lamp is burning, even if water is poured on the flame, it will not be extinguished." Because there are the above-mentioned bases, from your vows, bathing in a bathing place does not completely exhaust sins, therefore, the statement that bathing with water can exhaust sins is not beautiful. Also, this
