It should be understood as such. Furthermore, because it severs life, it is not desirable to produce the fruit of what is desired to be grasped by (Tibetan: སྔགས།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मन्त्र, Sanskrit Romanization: mantra, Chinese literal meaning: mantra), just like the combination of poisonous weapons and treatises. We want to produce the fruit of not wanting to be completely grasped by (Tibetan: སྔགས།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मन्त्र, Sanskrit Romanization: mantra, Chinese literal meaning: mantra), because it severs life. Whatever severs life produces undesirable fruits, just as the combination of poison and weapons causes harm. Furthermore, if it is said to be taught from one's own system, then liberation from samsara can also be accomplished. If it is said to be a common reason, then it is not established for others. The so-called arising from the treatise should also be examined here. Is it taught from one's own treatise? Or does it arise here from a common treatise? If one's own treatise is taken as the standard, then it will be the same as the tenets and Vedas of the heretics, because the heretics also go to remote places and kill many lives such as insects, ants, butterflies, etc., and say that through such rituals one can be liberated from samsara. If it is thought to arise from a common treatise, then this reason is not established for Buddhists, because in our treatises, there is no way that is similar to harming and can produce pleasing fruits.

What is the use of reciting mantras to kill helpless animals with sharp weapons? If it is said again: After oneself becomes natural, one creates animals for the sake of sacrifice. Therefore, for that need, sacrifice is religion, just like this, harming for the sake of Brahmins, just like this is not religion. If you say so, then it should be said to this: Even if the animals of sacrifice are harmed, it is not that they do not want the fruit. For that purpose, just like for the sake of Brahmins, how do they want to harm them? Whatever the purpose of that sacrifice is, that is that purpose, and the nature of that purpose is that purpose itself. Therefore, for that purpose, it is for the purpose of cause. In this way, in order to show the harm caused by the logic of refutation to refute the measure said by the other party, it is said: Animals are produced for use, because they are usable, like women. Therefore, the sacrifice is not completed, because the reason for the animals is not established. Animals are not produced for sacrifice, but here, practitioners who have done good deeds, due to the power of accumulating karma, are produced for the purpose of approaching the use of milk, butter, and wool, etc. Why is that? Because it can be used, so it is usable, and that nature is usable itself. Therefore, for the sake of being usable, just like the embrace, play, and touch of women, etc., are for approaching enjoyment, not for killing, so are animals. Therefore, because it is not established for the purpose of sacrifice, this reason is not established for others for that purpose. If you kill in the central sacrificial place, unwanted fruits will not be produced, and after completely grasping by reciting mantras, doing according to the rituals that appear in the scriptures, etc., there is also an answer to this: Even if you kill in the central sacrificial place, because you are not confused, you kill after thinking, so in the next life it will become an unwanted fruit, just like others. What is killed in the central sacrificial place is not killing, if you think so, then it is not for the author.

The desired result will occur, which is called the 'aspect.' 'Intentionally without error' is the reason, because unintentionally killing due to negligence does not count as killing. If one intends to kill a sentient being but does not kill, it is still not considered non-killing because it is an error. Therefore, for this reason, these two distinctions are stated. In the central sacrificial place, killing birds and sheep, etc., should also be avoided, as the undesirable result is an example, just as it produces undesirable results in future lives. So, how is it definitely expressed? In the monastery, it is recited like this: 'The eighteen unseen sacrifices that were pointed out are decadent.' Furthermore, whatever relies on this and finds joy in it, aging and death will also occur and fall. Additionally, during the time of the three conjunctions, in the sacrifice called 'Miscellaneous Offerings,' the ascetics argued. There, those who ate Ashvattha fruits and so on said, 'Sacrifices should be made with sentient beings.' Those with matted hair and so on said, 'Sentient beings should not be killed.' Here it is said: 'The Gobhila sacrifice has bark, Beshambana should know. Previously, sentient beings should be killed here, these people closely established. There, the learned twice-born said, 'To say this is not Dharma.' His treatise was fully filled.' Thus, they argued fiercely. At that time, the ascetic Edha was victorious, one controlled by two. He spoke the truth, and those who desired to eat meat became angry, killed that twice-born and ate him. Now in the land of Saketa, it is proclaimed as 'Edha was cut down.' Whichever twice-born did not eat the meat of Edha, if he was abandoned, he would not be invited to the ranks, and is still called 'one without ranks.' Other than that, the ruler, the royal ascetic, Basu was asked. Fearing the killing of Edha, he spoke a lie. When he entered that decaying body, the Dharma speakers said, 'Speak the truth here, or you will fall into the lower realms.' The aspect of Dharma is decaying, and the lie of the non-Dharma aspect is prevailing.
