The agent and the profound, that is also reasonable, because self-nature is without self-nature. For example, like the son of a widow. Since it is like that, how can it arise? And how can it disappear from it? Just like there are no flowers in the sky, how can one examine arising and ceasing? In this way, how can all beings arise and cease for the self of no-self? The self-nature of non-things is like flowers in the sky, it is not reasonable to arise and cease. In the realm of non-things, as long as the mind enters, because of the mind's examination and imputation, it is always attached to one, etc. In reality, not having things is not having things. As long as the mind enters that realm, thoughts of one, etc., will arise. Why? Even if it has been determined that there is no one, but because of the mind's examination and imputation, it is said to be one, etc. From having conceptual thought and not having conceptual thought, when the mind returns, at that time the mind has no object, so the elaboration ceases, it is peaceful. Those conceptual thoughts that discriminate as having self-nature or not having self-nature, from the non-conceptual thought that focuses on the selflessness that does not have either, when the mind returns, and all the objects of the mind disappear, at that time the self-nature of all things that are not completely established is the suchness, because there is completely nothing that can be said, so it is peaceful. Similarly, for the suchness that is far beyond speech and mind, it is reasonable to think of it as suchness, but the view of self that you universally examine is not right, because there will be those faults that were mentioned before, and also like a woman who sleeps after giving a reward, or like a very foolish person being entrusted with the care of a cow by a butcher. Therefore, the suchness as described above exists without harm. The eighth chapter, Entering the Suchness of Those Who Speak of the Limit of the Vedas, from the Commentary on the Essence of the Middle Way, the Blazing Lamp of Reasoning, is finished. Then, now we will begin to write the ninth chapter, which begins to enter into determining the suchness of those with discernment.
