If there is harm to it, there is no happiness. It should not be the master of that. Like the sky is not Deva Sharma. If in hell and so on, suffering harms the body, harm will also arise to me. If in the heavens and so on, experiencing happiness also benefits this, then it should be said that this is the master of all. For what reason, this is the nature of permanence and immutability, so it is not harmed by happiness and suffering. How can this be said to be I am I? Just as the sky should not be the master of Deva Sharma. If one wants to liberate the temporary master, with meditation, wisdom, etc., by striving for the meaning of no-self, how can the dead become immortal? If this temporary master is inherently mortal, then in order to attain immortality, one diligently cultivates the wisdom of meditation, and even if one strives for the sake of the supreme self, it will not be accomplished, because it cannot change the nature of death. How can it become immortality? Because it does not deviate from its own nature. If one abandons the nature of death and transforms into immortality, then faults such as impermanence will arise. If the temporary master and the supreme self are not different entities, then one should examine as follows: The temporary master is different from me, if one says different, then everything is Purusha. Thus, the vow of the two (temporary and self) and the external object is violated. If one says that the temporary master is not different from me, the vow is also violated. Moreover, sentient beings cannot know my happiness, pain, etc., so it is not the master. If one says that it is not a different entity, how can it motivate? One should also tell the heretics like this: If this is neither small nor temporary, if it is large, then it is not small. It is also not one, but a form of dharma, how can it be the property of the formless self? If it is a colored object, then here will arise discriminations such as small, large, one, many, etc. Also, to the Purusha without substance, one should say: If it is small, then large

How is it? If it is said to be large, how is it small? If it is said to be one, how does it become many? If it is said to be many, how does it become one? Therefore, this contradicts one's own words. Here, the opponent will use the elephant as an example. Many blind people gather together, wanting to understand the true nature of the elephant through their respective perceptions. Among them, those who touch the nose think that the elephant is like a plowshare. Those who touch the leg think it is like a wooden post. Those who touch the ear think it is like a winnowing fan. Whoever touches which part thinks that the elephant is like that. Similarly, for the "self," those who have not seen the truth will view it in many ways. Some think that the "self" is all-pervasive, others think that the "self" is only the size of the body, and still others think that the "self" is only the nature of a dust particle. If it is thought that like the elephant itself, it is both one and, like limbs, it is many, then it should be said: One is the nature of many, and it is not appropriate to use the elephant as an example, because the nose is not considered an elephant, and the various things are not one. The elephant's nose is only a nose, the leg is only a leg, the ear is only an ear, because there is no elephant itself. The nature of one does not exist, and for the many things such as the nose, the nature of one does not exist. Furthermore, if the "self" is a color like the sun, then how is it without color? If the "self" is the nature of many, then it cannot be compared to a palasha tree. Because if it is formless, then it is without color. If it becomes many colors like the sun, then how can it be one that pervades everything like a palasha tree? If, like a palasha tree, one pervades everything, just as a palasha tree has roots, a trunk, branches, twigs, and branches of branches, etc., it is also the nature of many, because there are many causes. Then, this is not true, because: there is no single palasha leaf, and how can the self that pervades everything be distinguished by conditions, etc., like the many things such as roots? The palasha tree is young, and

And is the nature of becoming the intermediate and final stages, and also factors such as fire, wind, and axes can make them different. But the self is of an unchanging nature, and various factors cannot distinguish it, therefore, the meaning of the metaphor shown by the example of Palasha will not be successful. There are also many other faults, namely: lordship and excellence, are conceived from relying on other things. If it is one, then this way, how can it be thought to exist? This is the lord, this is also the lord, these or these are not the lord, but are very lordly, it is reasonable to say so. Similarly, from many inferior things, the most excellent is called excellent, if relying on other non-lords and non-excellents, the self can become lordly or excellent, because there is no difference from all things, then what does this rely on to become lordship and excellence? Also, how can this be substance and all-pervading? If the self is substance, then, because it is substance, it is not all-pervading. Like a pot, it is not constant, then how do beings increase? If it is arranged, it is substance, to what extent should it be done? It is the characteristic of substance, and it can also be seen in things such as pots that it is constant and not all-pervading. Therefore, if the self is substance, then it is impermanent and not all-pervading, because it is substance, like pots and so on. For what is said that all things that will happen, have happened, and will happen are persons, if it is said like this, then, if substance can be the basis, the self should not be substance, like a flower in the sky, because it has not arisen, so there is no substance. If substance exists, then it exists in the nature of the dependent and the basis, like fruit on water, a bird's nest on a tree. The self cannot be established as substance, because it has not arisen, like a flower in the sky. Because the self has not been established as substance, therefore, here, how can all things that have happened, are happening, and will happen be seen as without self?
