Moreover, one cannot be liberated from suffering, because liberation and suffering are said to be one. Because that is not other than myself, just like fire and heat. Just as the heat that acts together with fire never exists without fire, so too, a person who acts together with suffering cannot be liberated even at the time of liberation. Furthermore, decay and unborn consciousness, how can it exist without action? How can one cut with an ax without an ax? Because, this eye and other consciousnesses, arising from not seeing objects, and having arisen, also decay, at that time it is not reasonable to be knowledge. Just as when cutting a tree with an ax, it is unreasonable to say that he is the cutter without relying on the ax as an action. Again, if it is said that just as fire burns, it is also said that a person is burned by fire, similarly, if consciousness knows, it is also said that a person knows, but not that consciousness knows, that is unreasonable. Because: When it is said that fire burns, it is the fire that burns, not the agent. Similarly, when consciousness speaks reason, it is consciousness that cognizes, not the person. It should be determinedly considered in this way: When it is said that fire burns, is it the fire itself that burns? Or is it the god who burns? To this, the act of burning belongs to the fire, not to the burner. Similarly, when it is said that consciousness cognizes, it is consciousness itself that cognizes, not the person. Therefore, the example of fire does not prove the point that is being made. If someone says: Just as a potter is called a potter even when he is not making pottery, just as fire is called a burner even when it is not burning wood, similarly, a person is also the nature of knowledge even without relying on action, it should be said in this way. To this it should be said: Like a potter, that is not established, because there is no self-nature of it. Nor does it want to be established like a burner, because there is no combustible object, so there is no fire. At what time does this person begin to do the work of pottery, at that time it is appropriate to be called a potter. This person is going to make pottery, but because this person has made pottery, the name potter

it is only a nominal designation, not the inherent nature of the potter. Similarly, when fire burns wood, it is appropriate to call it the burner, but when the object to be burned turns to ashes, the inherent nature of fire is also gone, so it cannot be established as the burner. Similarly, a person is only likely to have the nature of knowing when he or she is engaged as an agent. Other than that, it is only a matter of nominally designating the nature of non-knowing as knowing. It is not possible to establish knowledge merely by pointing out non-knowledge. If it is an unknowing agent and eater, how do you know? Like the sky, there is no conceptualization, so why merely postulate it with scripture? If it is still the nature of non-knowing, but the agent is near, it will become the nature of knowing. If so, then before the first existence, the agent did not arise, so it is the nature of non-knowing, like an image carved from stone, or drawn in a picture, because there is no mind, how can it be the agent that produces the various differences in the nature of existence? Because there is no mind, it is also unlikely to be the eater, because all objects are to be enjoyed by consciousness. Furthermore, your statement that it is the same as the sky and without conceptualization clearly identifies the agent and the eater. If it is said to be famous from my scriptures, then a scripture that is devoid of reason is not a valid measure, and the desired meaning cannot be achieved merely by relying on scripture. Neither non-knowing nor knowing, this is non-existent, non-existence does not become self, this is like a barren woman's son. If it is said that this is neither non-knowing nor the nature of knowing, then this will become non-existent. Therefore, whatever is non-existent cannot become self, like a barren woman's son, for example, a barren woman's son cannot be regarded as either a non-knowing nature or a knowing nature. Furthermore, because it pervades all bodies, you assume that it is the only self of all things, wherever
