This very flaw also harms the reasoning of change, etc. Then, again, if the general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class) exists prior, because it possesses the general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class), or because there is no difference in the general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class), like the previous case of the "chief," what is the meaning of that? To that, it should be said: The general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class) is asserted to exist prior, if it is said because it possesses the general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class), then is it the general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class) itself or the difference? Like before, there is no example either. Here, there is no example for your proof, is it not that you cannot rely on the example to prove that the chief exists in all the natures of happiness, etc., and follows after the other? Because it is not established for others, the first half of the analysis is done first, and then the second half is used to answer. For the common, there is no distinction of difference called "common," like before, there is no following after like the chief, etc., because you do not have even a little example that can prove that the general (common, *jāti*, *sāmānya*, class) exists prior. The broken pieces of vessels, etc., also have the nature of happiness, etc., so because there is no difference, it is said here, do not say such words as "you have no example." In our side, there is an example that is established for both. If you ask what kind of example, it is the aggregate of the nature of happiness, suffering, and delusion, because it is an aggregate, so it is like the aggregate of feeling. To this, it should also be said: Because of the nature of happiness, etc., it is not desired to be like the aggregate of feeling. Because it is an aggregate, happiness, suffering, etc., are individually uncertain. The aggregate of the nature of happiness, because it is an aggregate, so it is like the aggregate of feeling, this reason is uncertain. Why? Because there are three kinds of feeling, so because it is an aggregate, will the feeling become an aggregate of the nature of happiness like happiness? Or, because it is an aggregate, will the feeling become a nature of suffering like suffering? Neither suffering nor happiness, the one that becomes one is uncertain. If you prove it to be the nature of suffering, there will be the same consequence.

Indeed, aggregates are of the nature of ignorance, because they are aggregates, just like the aggregate of feeling. Since feeling is not of the nature of ignorance, what is to be established is emptiness, therefore it is a fault of example. If one were to say again: ignorance is also of the nature of feeling, because it has a cause, just like feeling pleasure and feeling pain. Then, because of the abandonment of uncertainty, therefore, that is the nature of accomplishing meaning, because it has a cause. Does ignorance become the sole nature of feeling? Or because it has a cause, like a pot and so on, does it become something that is not of the nature of pleasure and so on? Therefore, like this, because of the abandonment of uncertainty, it is just like how the meaning that is desired to be manifested is not established. Furthermore, the subsequent inference of following, etc., is harmed by the fault of the proposition. 'The chief is existent' is the proposition, and it contradicts what is inferred, such as following, etc. How so? Following, etc., infers impermanence and non-pervasiveness, etc., because it abandons permanence and all-pervasiveness, etc., therefore it also abandons the own nature of the subject. Furthermore, by unborn, unbounded, etc., by that abandoning the distinction, therefore, the qualities of the chief that are desired, are the very reason for uncertainty. The reason of following, etc., also, just as the chief is established like the fragments of a broken vessel, etc., where following and complete change, etc., exist, similarly, it also establishes birth and having an end, so it is said that the chief is unborn and unbounded, therefore, by that abandoning the distinction, so it also abandons the distinction of the subject, therefore it contradicts the meaning. The nature of the chief is the chief. The qualities are courage, dust, and darkness, etc., which are those that depend on the chief. Those qualities of the chief are without an agent because the agent is without a cause. These following and complete changes, etc., also exist in the distinctions.
