Therefore, the argument that external objects are not the nature of the mind is not certain. If someone thinks that this is proven by scripture, for example, it is said in the sutras, "The three realms are only mind," then what is said here is that this is not logical, because the meaning of the scripture has not been fully understood. Why? The sutra says, "The reason for saying 'only mind' is to negate the agent and the eater." This is because other non-Buddhists believe that there is an agent and an eater other than consciousness. In order to eliminate this view, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas taught "only mind," not to eliminate external objects. Why? In the *Ten Bhumi Sutra*, it says that when a Bodhisattva is on the sixth bhumi, they observe the arising and non-arising of dependent origination, thinking in this way: from the twelve links of ignorance, etc., arises a purely aggregate of suffering, which is without an agent and without a life, and it arises and causes the tree of suffering to be realized. Therefore, sons of the Buddhas, the three realms are only mind, manifested by mind and depicted by mind, and there is no agent or eater other than mind. Saying this does not establish that external objects do not exist. Here it is said that this is also said in the *Prajnaparamita*, Maitreya Bodhisattva said that the distinctions of form can be understood in three ways: this is the completely imputed form, this is the dependent form, and this is the nature form. What is the completely imputed form? The so-called form is that which relies on name, concept, designation, and conventional truth, and discriminates the nature of form, which does not exist as a substance. What is the dependent form? It is that which relies on discrimination, and manifests expressions such as the form of name, concept, designation, and conventional truth.

It exists by relying on the existence of concept, but not by independent existence. So, what is the image of Dharma-nature? It is the image of what is imputed by complete imputation, which is always without self-nature, without self of Dharma, and the ultimate limit of reality, etc., for the image of what is imputed by other-dependence. It is neither substantially existent nor non-existent, because it is emptiness, empty of the meaning of what is imputed by other-dependence, and because there is complete knowledge. If someone says so, then the answer is: If the meaning of what is imputed by other-dependence is empty, then complete knowledge can be established, because there is non-imputed meaning, so it will not be without object. That is to say, although complete knowledge is empty of the meaning of what is imputed by other-dependence, because the meaning of the image of Dharma-nature that is self-aware by each Tathagata exists, so whatever objects that do not conform to the literal meaning exist, because there is non-imputed meaning, so it must be that there is an object, therefore it cannot be said that all complete knowledge is empty of object. The eighteenth chapter of "Commentary on the Essence of the Middle Way: The Blazing Fire of Speculation." Furthermore, if there is also non-imputed self-nature in dreams, then the mind will not be certain. That is to say, the three realms are only mind, because they are empty of meanings such as form, just like the complete knowledge of dreams, etc. In this regard, if it is said that there is also a part of the mind of non-imputed self-nature in dreams, then, will the complete knowledge of dreams, etc., be empty of the meaning of the person, etc., of the imputed self-nature? Or, relying on its own part, it will not be empty of the non-imputed meaning, this reason is uncertain. Because it is not desired to have no object, so this metaphor is not established. That is to say, because it is empty of the imputed meaning, so the example of dreams taken can eliminate the imputed meaning, but it cannot eliminate the part of the non-imputed meaning, therefore it cannot establish mind-only. Because it is not desired to have no object, so this example cannot fully conform to the side to be proved.

Because it is not established. Because the consciousness of dreams focuses on the meaning of form, it is not without focus. Like this, because dreams are not reliable, if determined, then it cannot be used as an example, I think like this. Here it says: If it is thought that there are two kinds of objects of mind, one and aggregate, when fully examined with reason, neither of these two is reasonable. This is because the opponents say, if those who claim that external objects exist think that there are two kinds of objects of mind, do they only think that a single atom is the object, or do they think that the aggregate of atoms is the object? If you think so, then, when fully examined with reason, because there is contradiction, neither of these two is reasonable, it is not good. What is that reason? Therefore it says: For it, a single color atom is not the object of color consciousness, because it will not become apparent, just as root consciousness is not the object. Among them, the smallest limit of color is the atom. "Alone" means the synonym of "only". "The single color atom" is the subject, "it is not the object of color consciousness" is its property, the subject and the property together are the thesis. "Because it will not become apparent" is the reason, "it becomes apparent" means the actual object that appears as the object. "It will not become apparent", that is, in the mind, it will not become apparent, nor will it become the actual object of the object, it is said for the meaning of the reason. "Just as root consciousness is not the object" is a metaphor, "root" is the five roots, although the nature of those exists in the difference of object, color and shape, but because that will not become apparent. For example, that is not the object of color consciousness, similarly, the atom is not the object of color consciousness. The shape of the atom is numerous, it is not considered the object of the mind, because it is not a real existence, for example like the two moons. This is saying that the many forms of atoms.
