Furthermore, that which became the basis of the Mahasanghika was established as the sect called the Chaityakas. These were established as six sects of the Mahasanghikas. Moreover, the Sthaviras also had two forms: the original Sthaviras and those called the Himavatas. The fundamental vow of the original Sthaviras was that there is no instruction or proof by others for the Arhats. Likewise, the five points are also non-existent. The person (pudgala) exists. The intermediate existence (antarabhava) exists. The complete Nirvana of the Arhat exists. The past and future also exist. The meaning of Nirvana exists. These are the fundamental vows of the Sthaviras. Among them, the fundamental vow of the Himavatas is that Bodhisattvas are not ordinary beings. Even outsiders have the five superknowledges. It should be said that the person is different from the aggregates, and becoming Nirvana is because, when the aggregates cease, the person remains. There is speech in meditative absorption. The suffering of the path is abandoned. These are the vows of the Himavatas. Furthermore, the initial Sthaviras also became two types: the Sarvastivadins and the Vatsiputriyas. Among them, the fundamental vow of the Sarvastivadins is that everything is encompassed by two: conditioned and unconditioned. What will happen by saying that? That the person does not exist. As it is said: When this selfless body arises, There is no maker nor knower. How the river enters into samsara, Supreme listener, listen to that which is taught. Like that which was said. These are the fundamental vows of the Sarvastivadins. Also, their fundamental vow is that everything is encompassed by name and form. The past and future exist. A stream-enterer should be said to be of irreversible nature. The characteristics of the conditioned of the conditioned are three. The four noble truths will be realized in sequence. Through emptiness, wishlessness, and signlessness, one will enter into the flawless. With fifteen instants, one obtains the fruit of stream-entry.

It is an enterer of the stream. Entering the stream is to attain meditative stabilization. An Arhat can also decline. Ordinary beings can also abandon desire or hatred. Non-Buddhists also have the five superknowledges. Gods also abide in pure conduct. All Sutras are of indirect meaning. Entering into faultlessness is from the desire realm. Worldly right view exists. The five aggregates of consciousness are neither with desire nor without desire. These are the vows of the Sarvastivadins. Furthermore, the distinction of the Sarvastivadins is to speak separately. Furthermore, the distinctions of those who speak separately are the Bahushrutiyas, the Dharmaguptakas, the Kashapiyas, and the Sautrantikas. Among them, the root vow of the Bahushrutiyas is: the past and the future do not exist. Only the present arising conditioned phenomena exist. By seeing suffering, all four truths will be seen. Latency is different, and the cause of manifestation is also different. The intermediate state does not exist. There is also pure conduct in the realm of the gods. Arhats also accumulate merit. The five aggregates of consciousness also have those with desire and those without desire. The person is the same as the body, including the head. Entering the stream is to attain meditative stabilization. Ordinary beings can also abandon desire or hatred. The Buddha belongs to the category of the Sangha. The Sangha can produce great fruit, but the Buddha is not like that. The liberation of the Buddha and the Shravakas is the same. The person is invisible. Only mind and mental factors, even a little bit of the dharma of rebirth, do not transfer from this world to another world. All conditioned phenomena are momentary. Birth is from the increase of actions. Actions do not abide. As the mind is, so is the karma, but the karma of body and speech does not exist. There is no dharma that does not decline. Offering to stupas has no fruit. The ever-present present is...

Where does one sleep? By seeing conditioned phenomena, one enters into the faultless. These are the root vows of the Mahāsāṃghikas. Furthermore, the root vows of the Dharmaguptakas are that the Buddha does not belong to the Saṃgha. The great fruit arises from the Buddha, but not from the Saṃgha. There is also pure conduct in the realm of the gods. There are worldly dharmas; these are the vows of the Dharmaguptakas. For the Kāśyapīyas, their vows are that there are vipāka, dharmas of vipāka, and also dharmas that will arise. There is that which has been abandoned but not fully known, and they also accept everything of the Dharmaguptakas; these are the vows of the Kāśyapīyas. The vow of the Saṃkrāntivādins is that there is no pudgala. Furthermore, the distinctions of the Sarvāstivādins, the root vows of the pudgalas who expound the treatises of the teacher and guru, are that the five skandhas transmigrate from this world to the next. There is no cessation of the skandhas except through the path. There are skandhas that possess the root downfall. The pudgala is not found in ultimate truth. All are non-conceptual; these are the vows of the transmigrators, and in such seven forms, the vows of the Sarvāstivādins abide. Furthermore, the vow of the Sthavira school is that what is connected with the upādāna of taking closely is nominal. No dharma transmigrates from this world to the next. The pudgala transmigrates after taking the five skandhas. Conditioned phenomena have both momentary and non-momentary aspects. One should not say that the pudgala is the same as or different from the skandhas that are closely taken. Nirvāṇa should not be said to be the same as or different from all dharmas. Nirvāṇa should not be said to exist or not exist. The five aggregates of consciousness are neither with attachment nor without attachment; this is the vow of the Sthavira school. Furthermore, there are also two types of Sthavira school: the Mahāgiri and the Bahuśruta. Among them, the root vows of the Bahuśruta are:
