Saṃsāra is the continuous wandering, the unbroken chain of birth, aging, and death. Beginning and end refer to the beginning and end themselves. Because saṃsāra has no beginning and end, it is said to have no prior and subsequent. Because there is no fixed time of commencement from one cause to another, and because the end is not established for those who have not generated the antidote. This is merely a conventional statement, not the ultimate truth. Therefore, this is a word of reply. Therefore, those who have generated genuine faith in the Blessed One not speaking falsehoods will believe in him; while others who are deluded by seemingly valid measures and whose minds are confused will not believe. This scripture of Śākyamuni is also free from the teacher's concealment, therefore, in order to be able to show this meaning to others, the inference that can be inferred should be stated. It should be known that the body, senses, and aggregate of consciousness of the beings of the first kalpa are the cause of virtuous and non-virtuous actions accumulated in other lifetimes. Because they are the cause of the arising of happiness, suffering, dharma, and non-dharma, and so on. For example, just like the body, senses, and first aggregate of consciousness of the present. Similarly, for the uncommon cause of the object, and the act of benefiting others, and the act of bestowing benefit, and joy, and the cause of complete suffering, and the nature of impermanence, and so on, the reasons, and the vows, and the examples as indicated, the inference should be stated in detail. The rest is the same as before. Here, the non-Buddhists say: Saṃsāra should be considered to have a beginning, because it has an end. Whatever has an end is also seen to have a beginning, like a pot. Similarly, since the saṃsāra in which true knowledge has arisen also has an end, therefore, by the power of the reasons stated above, saṃsāra should be considered to have a beginning. To this, here not only saṃsāra itself does not have a prior limit, but also for all things themselves, there is no prior limit. Because it will be shown below that pots and other things are from beginningless causes one after another.

Regarding the views arising from a single transmission, there is a flaw of incomplete proof because the very existence of an initial beginning cannot be established. The reason for the argument, "because there is an end," is also not established, since the cycle of existence has not been explicitly indicated in the scriptures as having characteristics such as an end. Some say that if one accepts that the cycle of existence has no beginning, then one should also understand that it has no end, because it possesses the characteristic of being without beginning, like a person or space. Whether it is a person or something else, since the concept of being unborn is not even nominally accepted, there is a flaw of the subject of the example not being established. Even on the conventional level, since things like grains that have no beginning eventually have an antidote that causes them to cease, an end is seen, which is a contradiction in itself. Some self-proclaimed wise men mistakenly say that the Bhagavan is not omniscient because he does not reveal the prior end of the cycle of existence. This is like an ordinary person saying they do not know where a dead being has gone, which is actually admitting one's own ignorance. This is not reasonable, because others have refuted the view that the cycle of existence has a beginning. The statement that "the prior end is not visible" is actually the meaning of the words indicating that the cycle of existence has no beginning. Therefore, since the cycle of existence itself has no beginning, the Buddha knows that it is invisible. The Buddha's declaration that the cycle of existence has no beginning is because he has no obstruction to it. This unexamined statement is a common cause for those who are jealous of the great wealth of others. The detailed meaning of the vow can be understood from the Treatise on Examining the Tathagata. Enough with the elaborate analysis, now the point should be stated. Here, the verses indicate that the nature of the cycle of existence is without beginning and end. Therefore, the subsequent inference is that, in the ultimate sense, the aggregates and so on do not exist as they appear, because they have no beginning and end, like a person conjured by a magician. Here, some supposedly clever intellectuals say that even a person conjured by a magician has consciousness without knowledge or discrimination.
