Therefore, internal sense-bases are not born from causelessness, because they possess generality and particularity. For example, like a sprout. The harm of fame is that whatever exists in this world is known to arise from causes. For example, cloth arises from similar causes, and saba does not arise from single resins, and so on. Or, what is called causelessness refers to bad causes, like having no wife, and so on. What are bad causes? They are nature, Ishvara, self, chief, time, and the son of desire, and so on, because they are not true. Things are not born from causelessness, because there is no inference that shows they are born from it, and also because it would become a harm to inference. This is what they think. Among them, for the moment, those who speak of nature say: internal sense-bases are born from nature, this is their commitment, because the various forms of the body are accomplished, such as the beauty of the color, shape, leaves, stems, petals, stamens, and heart of lotuses, and the peacock's neck is like a jewel, towering and huge, as blue as lapis lazuli, and the colors of the tail feathers are bright and lustrous, and so on. Therefore, for the meaning of their commitment, if from the perspective of conventional truth, the internal sense-bases, which are the objects of conventional knowledge, do not depend on the actions of an independent agent, and are entirely unmade by anyone, if they arise from determined conditions, then it is establishing what is already established. If from the perspective of ultimate truth, then there is no example, because they do not admit that lotuses and so on arise from ultimate truth. Those who speak of causelessness say: our view is that everything is accomplished from causelessness, and if what is to be established is to be accomplished by reason, then it contradicts the previous view. If it is not possible to show that those who speak of causes have no reason, then it is like barbarians speaking barbarian language. Therefore, even if reason is applied, there is no harm to the previous view. If someone says: even if translated into another language, how can it be understood? Because only the sign that can be understood shows the thing that has the sign, for example, barbarians, there is smoke in this direction.

Just as using different methods to show that there is fire, this cannot be taken as an answer. Those who assert power say that things like sparks and sprouts arise from no cause, while things like pots arise from causes. Because they do not arise from their own nature, all things do not arise from their own nature, and this is said to establish this view. In order to prevent everything from arising from everything, this is not reasonable. Thus, for the time being, there is no arising from self-nature. Those who believe that Ishvara is the cause say: Who is the minute, the one, the abiding place of birth? He causes all this to arise and perish. He is Ishvara, the giver of the supreme, the god to be worshipped. He obtains the extreme peace of the virtuous. This producer has no knowledge, I have no control over my own happiness and suffering. Even if sent by Ishvara, one will only go to black earth or the heavens. That's what they say. This is merely a promise. Ishvara cannot be the cause of the arising of all beings even conventionally, because he is the cause of happiness and complete suffering for some, like a cowherd. Or, beings must not have only one cause, namely Ishvara, because they are measurable, like Ishvara, so even conventionally, things do not arise from him. If Ishvara is the cause, will the result be the nature of the self, or will it become other, or will it become a combination of the two? If one thinks of any one of these, because the refutation has been stated before, and the arising of existence and non-existence will also be prevented, so in the ultimate sense, things do not arise from Ishvara. If it is said that the cause of sentient beings and the various worlds that are considered as containers is Ishvara, because he causes abiding, arising, destruction, happiness, suffering, increase, and decrease, then in the aspect of convention, this is establishing with establishment. But not in the ultimate sense, because in the ultimate sense, the arising of karma is not accepted either. Those who believe that the self is the cause also promise that the self itself is the cause of the arising of all beings.
