If it exists, there is no end. And there is another for it. And there is another for it, because it would become endless, which is not desirable, i.e., birth, etc. One should not wish to have birth, etc. If someone says, 'What if it were like that?' then the same should be repeated for it: if it does not exist, then they are not conditioned. If someone also thinks that birth, etc., are conditioned, and it does not become endless, because birth, etc., represent the conditioned itself as a characteristic, that is the characteristic of the conditioned. For example, just as the characteristics of auspiciousness and inauspiciousness, because there is no other characteristic of the conditioned, it is related to end, duration, and continuity, and it will not become non-existent. If one says this, then, as before, one does not wish that birth, etc., in the ultimate sense, the conditioned itself is the characteristic of the conditioned, because it is conditioned, for example, like the basis of a characteristic, as shown, birth, etc., are also the same as that, therefore one should not wish that birth, etc., in the ultimate sense, are conditioned. Even if birth, etc., are conditioned, they cannot be the characteristic of the conditioned itself. Like this, the answer to that has already been refuted here by saying, 'If it does not exist, then they are not conditioned.' Therefore, the fault as stated before cannot be avoided. Here, the Sthavira school says: birth, duration, and destruction are both conditioned and will not lead to endlessness. If asked, 'If so, how is it?' Because for this, the Dharma arises with fifteen selves, namely, the Dharma itself and its birth, its duration, its destruction, its association, and its change from duration to another state itself. Here, if the Dharma is white, then its true liberation, or if it is black, then its false liberation, if the Dharma is renunciation, then its renunciation itself, or if it is not renunciation, then non-renunciation itself arises, these are called 'wheels.' It is the birth of birth, the duration of duration, the destruction of destruction, the association of association, and the change from duration to another state itself of the change from duration to another state itself.
