If you wish to arise simultaneously, then listen to this as well. Desire and attachment cannot arise simultaneously. Why is that? In that examination, like this, desire and attachment would become mutually independent. This attachment's desire is this, this desire is attached to this, because there is no dependence, so it is not desired that way. Those two are desired to be with dependence. Here, inferring by the power of the dharma of the subject, desire and attachment do not have simultaneous entities, because they are with dependence, like seeds and sprouts. Here, the Vaibhashikas say, what is that reason? Is it because it depends on arising, or because it depends on the special expression of what is relied upon? If they say it is because it depends on arising, then mind and mental events that arise simultaneously, also because the cause of simultaneous arising is the cause, and a lamp, however, because they arise simultaneously, it is uncertain. If it is said to depend on the special expression of what is relied upon, then for two cow horns that arise simultaneously, it is also said that this is the left one, this is the right one, because seeing the special expression of what is relied upon, even that is uncertain. Merely by the power of aggregation, mind and mental events, and the light of a lamp, etc., arise, because even in conventional terms, it is not admitted that they are simultaneous entities, and because the two cow horns are not established in ultimate reality, so there is no fault in what was said. Furthermore, regarding this, are desire and attachment examined for simultaneity in one self, or are they examined for simultaneity in different selves? To that, first, if one self is considered to be simultaneity, then one self does not have simultaneity, that is a closely placed commitment. That self is not simultaneous with that self, because simultaneity exists in two. Therefore, that is an example of a similar dharma. Here, the inference is that desire does not arise simultaneously with attachment, because it is one self, for example, that desire itself.

Now, just like one's own nature, it harms the inference about oneself. If, because the teacher's limbs are not fully stated, there is a fault of incomplete proof, that is not good, because the teacher's words are meaningful words, and meaningful words generate great meanings, even if the words are few, they can accomplish many combined words. The combined words may also become incomplete, or they may not change, and in that case, whenever there is a detailed explanation, or a slight mention from an established conclusion. If one conceives of difference as simultaneity, then, when there is no simultaneity in the non-contradictory identity, if it is indeed different, how can it become simultaneous? Difference itself does not possess simultaneity, because this would become a harm to inference, and there is no inference that can prove that difference itself possesses simultaneity. Here, too, the proposition is closely established. As a dharma of the পক্ষ (pakṣa, the subject of an inference), because difference itself does not possess simultaneity, from the perspective of observing the পক্ষ (pakṣa), it is itself different, for example, if it is created, like impermanence. Because the meaning that is intended to be expressed here is revealed, the inference is that, in ultimate truth, desire and attachment do not possess simultaneity, because they are different, for example, just like desire and detachment from desire, this would become a harm to inference. Furthermore, if only one is simultaneous, then it will also become without a companion. Desire and attachment are simultaneous, this refers to this situation. Desire and attachment do not want to be simultaneous without a companion, this also shows that the dharma to be negated by the simultaneity of desire and attachment, which is dependent. Therefore, the inference is that, in ultimate truth, the identity of desire and attachment is not simultaneity, because it is dependent, for example, like the nature of desire itself. To this, others think that if temporarily desire and attachment are the same, but if it becomes simultaneity, then it will also become simultaneity without a companion.
