Because of examining in that way, space cannot be established. Therefore, space is not a real thing, not a non-real thing, not a basis, not a nature. Refuting the establishment of showing real things, etc., as said by the opponent, it concludes with the reason for exclusion. The five elements, any others are also the same as space. The meaning of element is the source of origin, just like the source of gold, space and so on are also the source of suffering and unpleasantness, etc. Or, the meaning of element is to hold one's own nature without doing anything. The five are earth, water, fire, wind, and consciousness. Other means that it should be refuted under space. Any others are the same as space means that whatever other five elements are, they should also be refuted as the same as space, as before, the nature of space before, space does not exist even a little, starting from that, therefore space is not a real thing, not a non-real thing, not a basis, not a nature, in between, the refutation of space is shown, similarly here also, the nature of earth etc. before, earth etc. does not exist even a little, starting from that, therefore earth etc. is not a real thing, not a non-real thing, not a basis, not a nature, in between, it should be widely said, and whatever other five elements such as earth are, they should be shown to be the same because they are the same as the refutation of space. The teaching of the Blessed One shows that those elements exist in that way, and by showing those, following the beings to be tamed, with compassion, it belongs to the conventional truth that is famous in the world, but in the ultimate sense, the elements do not exist. Because the elements exist, there is no harm to the commitment, and the sense bases also do not become unestablished. Or some say, because you slander all things in the ultimate sense, the wrong view follows the way of slandering all things, imitating the words of the Blessed One, and accomplishing the desire of the materialists.

Furthermore, they say, "This is not the teaching of the Bhagavan, therefore it should be abandoned." Regarding this, here, those opponents who are blinded by unequal faults are like removing unreal things such as hairs, flies, long-beaked flies, and so on. Thus, what I have said is the negation of the existence of the sources of arising, and in reality, it has only made the negation of self-existence, but it has not been said to be the non-existence of things. In the Sutra Pitaka, it says: 'As long as the realm of the mind's activity changes to the extremes of existence and non-existence, when the realm of activity ceases, the mind also truly ceases.' Likewise, not falling into things is because of the absence of things, therefore, no dharma is made into the absence of things, as it is said and so on. Similarly, the teacher himself also said elsewhere: 'This is the negation of existence itself, it is not the complete grasping of non-existence, when saying it is not black, it is like not saying it is white.' Thus he said. Therefore, both of those ways are evil views, because the wise consider all elaborations to be obstacles to the happiness of seeking peace. How is it? Here, if what is accepted as ultimately true, as well as the practice in form and formlessness, as well as the supramundane, as well as good, non-good, and neutral, etc., if by any means a designation can be established, then it becomes the self-nature of obtaining oneself, therefore, the effort to generate and not generate good and non-good dharmas will become meaningless, because of its existence, just as the existence of a pot and a blanket, therefore, those who have happiness will not lose the difference of happiness, and those who have suffering will not lose the difference of suffering, like a picture painted on a wall, the differences in the age, size, and behavior of beings, etc., will become without increase or decrease. If the three realms, the supramundane, good, non-good, and neutral, etc., are without self-nature, then, the effort to generate and not generate good and non-good dharmas will also become meaningless.
