Regarding this, the Blessed One said, "Great King, these six elements are persons." Therefore, the six elements, namely earth, water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness, reveal their characteristics, which are hardness, moisture, warmth, mobility, separation, and the ability to distinguish. Things that do not exist, such as sky-flowers, are not shown to be the cause of a person. Therefore, the teacher's vow that earth and so on also do not have the cause of form will violate the promise. If it is said that the Tathagata promised to show the six elements as persons in name, then there is no fault. However, since it is promised to be shown in the ultimate sense, it is not without fault. If it is said that it is not reasonable because it is not established, then it is not not established, because in the ultimate sense, the elements such as earth exist, because they have characteristics. Regarding this, what the Blessed One said, "What does not exist in the ultimate sense," refers to what has no characteristics, such as sky-flowers. Earth and so on have characteristics such as hardness, therefore, because they have characteristics, the elements such as earth exist. Regarding this, here, because it is easy to show that the nature of space is emptiness, and it is shown that it does not exist, it is also easy to refute the remaining elements. The teacher only spoke about the space element, saying, "The nature of space was before, space does not exist at all, because it is non-different." This is what he thought. Regarding this, the Vaibhashikas believe that space is only unobstructed, therefore unobstructedness is space, and it is established that it exists. Therefore, establishing it with the existence of unobstructedness, the proof and the proven are not established, for example, saying "sound is impermanent, because it is impermanent." Similarly, here it will also be said, "Space exists, because it is space." Or, those who hate the nature of the Madhyamaka treatises will say this, for whom, sequence and simultaneity are unreasonable, becoming the basis of characteristics, and the characteristics are other,

It is not admitted, just as it is not reasonable to think that there are other great persons besides the names of great persons. Because this is to represent that, so it is the nature, because it states the causes and conditions of the action. It says "saying 'like this'" etc. Regarding their very admission in that way, if the nature of space is prior, then there will not be even a little space. If space itself is the nature, then using it itself to establish it, to combine is unreasonable, because the meaning is not established, so what will be established by what? If it is said that the space that exists in the mundane is said to be unobstructed, then in order to show that, there is no need for proof. If it is said that because it is not famous in the ultimate sense, one should strive to show that, then for that, there is also the fault of proof and the fault of example, it just stays on the vow. Or, the Vaibhashikas and the Vaisheshikas say that space is a substance and is unconditioned, so for those people it is said, if the nature of space is prior, then there will not be even a little space, vowing that it is a substance, this is an approximate establishment. That unborn is famous in both aspects, it is dharma. The example is based on that, such as rabbit horns etc. Here the inference is, in the ultimate sense space is not a substance, because it is unborn, like a rabbit horn. Similarly, arguments such as without cause, without result, non-existent etc. should also be stated. For those who say that space is the nature of sound, sound itself is space, so the fault of proof is the same as before. Here some say, if this meaning is the intention of the author, then the author will only say that apart from the nature of space, there will not be even a little space. Merely by showing the incompatibility of before and after, the negation of others can be established, so this is not harmful. Because the Vaisheshikas vow that the basis of nature and nature are other, if those are other, then sometimes they will also become before and after, because they are other.
