If someone asks, "Does it do so?" The answer is, "That is not good. Because just as the cause of existence and non-existence is refuted, the very nature of existence and non-existence is refuted. By means of the manner of arising later, if one closely examines it as the seer, and realizes that it is the seer, then in order to thoroughly establish conventional truth, the intention will be lost. Or, the opponent says that the eye sees because the act of seeing arises, because there is the term for action. One does not say that what does not have the act of seeing sees, just like the ear. Because the eye has the act of seeing, one applies the term 'seer' to the eye." To this, the teacher explains: "If that is the case, the seer is not the seeing itself. Because the opponent has not truly shown that the act of seeing arises in some seer, and before the act of seeing arises in the seeing, the seeing itself is not established. Because it is difficult to show that what was not previously a seer later becomes endowed with the act of seeing, what is not a seer is not seeing itself. In that case, either the meaning of the reason is not established, or the meaning is contradictory, so the pledge is lost." Here, the Samkhyas and Vaisheshikas say, "Because this sees, it is the seer, because the condition of action is stated for the agent. Whose is the agent, that is the seer, and it is he who sees. For example, a woodcutter cuts wood with an axe, the axe cuts the wood as the object, but the axe itself does not cut. Therefore, the statement that the eye does not see is an establishment upon an already established fact. For agents, there is an agent, because it is an agent, just as axes and so on have a woodcutter." Here it is said: "One should know that the seer is explained by the seeing itself. One should know that the explanation is the answer. By what is it answered? By the seeing itself. What is answered? The seer. Because refuting the grasping of the seer as self is also the same. Just as there the dharma of the eye does not see its own self, so here the dharma of the self also does not see its own self, because the self is its own se

Therefore, observation is unreasonable, because falling into one's own self-nature is contradictory. Just as the edge of a sword does not cut the edge of the sword itself. Likewise, according to inference, the self in the ultimate sense is also not an observer, because the self does not observe its own self-nature, like the ear. Nor should it be tainted with the poison of doubting that the meaning of the argument is not established by the other party. In some cases, if someone says, "I observe myself," it is because it is to enhance understanding. Therefore, meaning is imposed on the word "I," and it is said that way in name. Here, not observing one's own self-nature is because it is close to taking the manner of characteristic words, that is, because of the argumentative thing itself, the knowable itself, the speakable itself, and so on, like the ear and so on, or like sound and so on, or like the self-nature of "I," the reasoning of argument and examples should also be elaborated. Therefore, in the ultimate sense, the self does not observe form, because it is a thing, like the ear and so on. Likewise, in the ultimate sense, the self does not observe form, because it is knowable, like sound and so on. Likewise, in the ultimate sense, the self does not observe form, because it is speakable, like the self-nature of "I." For form, it should also be elaborated appropriately in the same way. There is also no fault of commitment and so on, because it is based on the truth of name, and because the generally accepted "I" is taken as a party, and because its dharma is shown, and because it is also close to this in the example itself. Therefore, in the ultimate sense, since the axe and so on are not established, there is also no example, so it is not proof of what is already established. Here, some say, "The observer does not observe" is said because he himself denies that meaning, so it will become a fault of commitment. Here, since it has already been answered with the phrase "dependent arising is unborn," there is no need to repeat it again. Furthermore, for this, is the observer the self-nature of the observer? Or is it not the self-nature of the observer?
