If it is said that it should be similarly stated that the eye does not see objects, then in that case, it would be detrimental to the commitment. Because it is said in the Abhidharma: "The eye, with the same basis, sees forms, the consciousness is not based there." Therefore, it is said so. Here, it is because the eye itself, with the same basis, is taken as one side. Arguing for what is already established is not, and it will not cause harm to the commitment. Because it is said (in the scripture): "The eye does not see forms, the mind does not know dharmas, in what the world does not enter, that is the ultimate truth." Because we have not committed that the eye sees objects in the ultimate truth. Moreover, since it has been explained how to expand the inference, therefore, since that has been established, in the ultimate truth, the eye with the same basis does not see objects, because it is the faculty of the eye, just like something similar to it. Or, because it is a faculty with form, like the ear, because it has been thus prevented. There will also be no harm to reputation, because by adhering to the particularity of what is promised, it has not been abandoned, and it has already been answered. The Kashmiris say: The eye itself is seeing, because it is the agent of seeing. Some say: That is unreasonable, because it is part of the meaning of the commitment, and it does not follow, and the refutation has already been stated. Others say: What the Kashmiris say is unreasonable, because for those who say that moments exist, action is unreasonable because it is momentary. For those who say that non-moments exist, it is also the same, because that itself unreasonably becomes something different from it. The Sutra masters say: Since actions have no function, the eye also does not see, and neither does anything else. So what is it? The Sutra says that relying on the eye and forms, eye consciousness arises, so you say that the eye does not see, this is only arguing for what is already established. Merely preventing arising, eye consciousness is unreasonable, therefore it is not arguing for what is already established. It will also not cause harm to the commitment, because the meaning of the Sutra, which is in accordance with conventional truth, has been committed, and in the ultimate truth

Because that reason is not established. Because the birth of the sense-sphere of eye and form is prevented, and because the viewer and the viewing itself of the eye and form etc. are prevented, therefore its difference cannot be established, and that is enough. However, because it is desired to distinguish the wisdom of the listeners, a small part will be explained. Viewing one's own self-nature, that is not seeing that. With this sentence, just as before, not seeing one's own self-nature, this is shown as the dharma of the tenet. When one does not see oneself, how does one see others? With this, in order to establish the dharma to be proven, in order to establish it, because it is desired to eliminate other discriminations that are completely observed by others, therefore the words of combination should be spoken. To this, some say that the eye grasps the uncontacted, for those people, viewing is the meaning of understanding, just as kings understand from ministers, because they do not see their own self-nature. The meaning of the reason is not understanding one's own self-nature. Ultimately, the eye is not grasping the uncontacted object, because it does not see its own self-nature, like the nose etc. Similarly, ultimately, form is not the object grasped by the eye sense-organ grasping the uncontacted object, because it is transformed from the four great elements, like smell etc. Not seeing one's own self-nature and transforming from the four great elements, this is because the manner of the characteristic word is closely taken, and also because the reason has obstacles etc., for both sides, the subsequent inference should be spoken, and the corresponding combining words should be elaborated in detail. Or, ultimately, it should not be admitted that the eye is grasping the uncontacted object, because it is the present manifest object, like various things. If it is said that the eye is grasping the uncontacted object, because it grasps the form with an interval in between, and because it grasps without different effort, and because it grasps without different time, and because it grasps an object superior to itself, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, that is not good either, because here, grasping the uncontacted is the meaning of grasping the form with an interval in between, and the meaning of grasping the form with an interval in between is also the same.
