It is said that the goer is not the action itself. Because in the ultimate truth, the two are not different entities. Like one's own nature, it hinders the inference of oneself. For those who say that the two are not different entities, there will also be the fault of conventional truth, that is, who will go where? Because it is commonly said in the world that it is different from oneself. Or, by what action does one appear as a goer? That action is not done by that goer. Why? Because there is no goer before the action. Before the action means before the action occurs, that is, before the action arises. This is its definition. There is no nature of any goer that exists, becoming the cause of action, or rather, nothing can prompt action and rely on the designation of the term 'goer'. For example, in name, the effort produced from the cause of intention, the power of the wind element born from it, causes the collection of formations to arise in different places at different times, which is called the goer. And that which produces different characteristics compared to the previous moment is called action. However, from the ultimate point of view, it is not considered that the cause is the agent, therefore it is not considered that it is the agent itself. For example, who will go where? Not to one's own nature, because it is unreasonable to act on one's own nature. Therefore, temporarily for one's own school, there is the saying, 'By what action does one appear as a goer? That action is not done by that goer.' For the Samkhya school, if it is said that things like earth exist in the form of the body, among which the one with more dust is action, and that which corresponds to it and becomes its nature is the collection of places of action, that is, the goer, then this is also unreasonable. Because 'there is no goer before the action', there is no nature of it before the action, and if it is said that it is also acting when it is still, there will be a fault, so it is not allowed. When the action appears, it cannot be said to be its cause, because 'who will go where? It is not done by itself.' This is its meaning. For things that produce the difference of birth, such as saying 'a sprout is born, making oneself wise', and so on, it is also like that.

This is falsely established by conceptual thought, because action is impossible for the unborn. Just as it is unreasonable for walking to become the nature of walking, similarly, the speaker speaks words, and the cutter cuts trees. For these, it is also unreasonable to act on their own nature. Because here, too, the collection of verbal actions, letters, language, and words, arising from the cause of intention, the place produced by effort, and the cause of arising, is not different in nature from the speaker, and differs in characteristics from the previous moment. By what difference does the term "speaker" arise? Its cause is the speaker, so does the speaker speak words? This is also not permissible. Because there is no (speaker) before speaking, who will speak what? This also answers the question of the cutter cutting trees. Therefore, in this way, the analogy is not established as it is, so it is reasonable that there will be no fault of contradictory meaning. Others say: Because there is no (walker) before walking. Regarding this, before walking arises, the walker who is separated from walking is unreasonable as the walker himself, so it is impossible to say that the walker walks, therefore it is unreasonable to say that the walker walks. This is not logical, because the fact that the walker does not walk has already explained the meaning. Some particularists say: By what walking does one appear as a walker? That walking is not his walking. This is true, but because he is other than that, we will not be harmed by the form of harm mentioned earlier. We have established that the consciousness of substance and the consciousness of action are other, because the objects are different, just as the consciousness of a bull and the consciousness of a cow are other. Whatever is not other does not have different objects, just as the consciousness of a bull is not other than itself. What is said here: How does one appear as a walker by walking? That walking is not his walking. Because that is unreasonable. Similarly, by what walking does one appear as a walker? The other than that does not walk. Because it prevents the other than that, and follows the display of that.
