It is as if the examination of examining the self has been completed. Thus, this shows that the dharmas of afflictions are without support. Therefore, it can be inferred that, in reality, desire and so on do not exist, because they have no support, just like the blue color of a barren woman's son. Our own party says: Even if selflessness is determined, the afflictions of the mind are related, because afflictions are the dharma of that mind. For those who say selflessness, the meaning of the reason is not established. It is not that the meaning of the reason is not established, because the arising of the mind is prevented, and the nature of consciousness is also refuted, and because it is prevented from being substantial, the mind is not established. Those who say that there is existence say: Like this, we say that there is no nature of reality because we have nothing, therefore, it is established that afflictions do not exist. For mental factors, the connection with the non-existence of the nature of things is also established. Therefore, this is said: You think that the vase and the woolen cloth do not have a nature of reality different from them, because it is the cause of the arising of the mind that appears as real and unreal, if it is real or unreal, then, if it is real, then the vow is broken. If it is not real, then, therefore, there is no connection between the blue color of this vase and this red color, therefore there will be no name, therefore it is said: If something does not exist, what exists? The dependent vase or woolen cloth does not exist, the dependent blue or red is considered to be one. No afflictions exist. The characteristics of a barren woman's son and so on are considered to be unreal. This is not desired, therefore it is not existent, it is not possible as an example, therefore the desired meaning is not achieved. For the sake of our own party, this should also be said: Afflictions are like one's own body. Self means I and mine. Body means the accumulation of name and form. (This is an interjection with no real meaning.) The so-called "view of self" is the afflictive view that focuses on oneself as the object. Like the "view of self," it refers to something similar to the view of self. Just as "not the body, not different from the body, there is no body there, nor is there that, the Tathagata is not endowed with a body, who is the Tathagata," the afflictions are also the same. The so-called "afflictions" refer to things that cause affliction in the sense of harm. Afflictions do not exist in five ways on the afflicted. On the mind of the afflicted, afflictions are not the afflicted, because they preclude being non-different from it, and because the burner and the burned would become one. Afflictions are also not different from the afflicted, as before, because they preclude being different from it, and because even without afflictions, one would become the afflicted. Afflictions are not on the afflicted, nor are the afflicted on the afflictions, nor are the afflictions in accordance with the afflicted, simply because there is no difference. Therefore, afflictions do not exist in five ways on the afflicted. Like observing oneself, the afflicted, do not exist in five ways on the afflictions. The afflicted do not exist in five ways on the afflictions, and should be established in the same way. Therefore, since there are no afflictions, the example has the fault of not having complete dharma to be established. Also, when in our school, the lovely and unlovely are reversed, and are not inherently existent, then, what are the afflictions that depend on the lovely and unlovely being reversed? It is the remainder of the word "arising." Therefore, from the ultimate point of view, the dharma of afflictions is not dependently arising, so the example has the fault of not having complete dharma to be established. Also refuting one's own school, namely form, sound, taste, touch, smell, and dharma, these six are six aspects. What are these six? They are the basis, because they abide in this, so it is the basis, a synonym for the meaning of arising from these. The so-called "form" refers to what can be manifested as form. The so-called "sound" refers to
