It should also be said that it is for the sake of purification. Similarly, from the ultimate point of view, I am neither a conscious being, nor permanent, nor all-pervasive, nor without cause. Because it is a thing, and sometimes it is the cause of correct knowledge, wrong knowledge, and doubtful knowledge, and sometimes it is the cause of happiness and complete suffering, etc., like a pillar, it should be said. Also, it should be said to the Samkhya school, from the ultimate point of view, I am not an enjoyer, because it is the cause of doubtful knowledge, etc., like a tree stump and a pot, it should be said. If someone thinks that the Madhyamikas do not accept the meaning of the word "I", therefore it is not appropriate to show its difference, like the blue and white clothes of a barren woman's son, etc. If you think like that, it is not good, because it will take future births again, so it is called "I", because the name "I" is established on the object of consciousness, so consciousness is called "I". Thus, the Blessed One also said: Subduing the mind is good, and happiness is attained by subduing the mind. Also, in other sutras it is said: My protector is myself, who else can be a protector? The wise, having well subdued themselves, will also attain the heavens. Therefore, in order to eliminate the unknown difference of the generally accepted "I" in name, there is no fault. Alternatively, another argument should be made, the body with the senses is not the uncommon cause of the meaning of the words "permanent" and "all-pervasive", because it is not the object, like a pillar. Similarly, reasons such as being measurable should also be stated. Here, in order to refute the self that speaks of "I", the five aggregates and the body are without self, what does that mean? If it is said that they are without self, then there is no example, because pots, etc. also have it. If it is said that it is not focused on, then even so there is no example, because pots, etc. are objects.
