Thus it is said. Here, there are three kinds of ignorance that hold onto nihilism and are close to annihilation: the materialists who refute the afterlife and previous lives; those who say that the Buddha's non-conceptual wisdom for Samantabhadra does not exist in the conventional truth; and those who slander the results. And those who hold the view that since there is no inherent existence in the ultimate sense, there is no harm in committing sins even in the conventional sense, thus clinging to the literal meaning of the Dharma. Among them, considering the first case, because there is no inference that can establish that there is no real birth, and that it will not arise again after annihilation, and inference and fame will harm you, and it will fall into the fault of everything arising from everything in permanence, and it will become a fault of being either permanent or non-existent. For the second case, there is also: If the cycle of existence of a monk whose afflictions have been exhausted is completely reversed, why do the perfect Buddhas not declare its creation? If there is creation, then surely, it will be completely held as a view. As such, the fault of saying this is raised and established. If a self does not exist, then its field of activity, peace, and emptiness do not exist. How can the bodies of the Sugatas arise from self-generated particles that are extremely pure? How is what is said like that? Here, the self should be determined as non-conceptual wisdom. For the third case, although fire and so on have no inherent existence in the ultimate sense, who can prevent the appearance of ashes and so on in the conventional sense? Therefore, the view of self, which is as great as Mount Sumeru, does not cause harm, but the harm caused by the view of emptiness is due to the falsity of pride. Thus it is said. It is also said that if emptiness is viewed incorrectly, those with little wisdom will collapse, just like grasping a snake incorrectly, and practicing mantras incorrectly. Thus it is taught. Similarly, in the Mahayana Sutra, it is said that a Bodhisattva who clings to the literal meaning of the Dharma will generate twenty-eight kinds of nihilistic views, as follows: the view of clinging to characteristics, the view that a view is not a view, the view of slandering terms, and the view of slandering all afflictions.
