Origination does not exist. Because things are never separate from impermanence, and are always accompanied by impermanence, therefore, for the destruction of things, origination does not exist. If there is no origination, how can there be abiding? Someone says: At the time of origination, there is no destruction, therefore origination exists. Origination will abide, and abiding will later be destroyed. Reply: For the undestroyed, there is also no origination. For those who are separate from the characteristic of destruction, there is also no origination. Why? Because they are not things. Just like this, things are characterized by destruction, therefore, whatever is separate from the characteristic of destruction is not a thing itself. Whatever is not a thing, how can it originate? For it, even the saying "it will originate like this" does not exist. Therefore, for the undestroyed, there is also no origination. For the destroyed, there is no destruction. For the undestroyed, there is also no destruction. Like this, because for the destroyed, origination is unreasonable, and if there is no origination, then abiding itself is also non-existent, therefore, for the unoriginated and non-abiding, the destroyed does not have destruction, and the undestroyed does not have destruction. Origination and destruction, which do not exist for the destroyed, and also do not exist for the undestroyed, then on what other things will they exist? Therefore, origination is also non-existent, and destruction is also non-existent. Someone says: Let's assume that things exist, but the unoriginated is an unreasonable thing, therefore origination is very certain. Whatever originates from it exists, then destruction must also exist, therefore destruction is also very certain. Reply: Do you want the fruit of the Vidura tree? Do you think that origination and destruction are non-existent, but things exist? Excluding origination and destruction, isn't it also excluding things themselves? How is that? Because: Without origination and destruction, things do not exist. Just like this, if something exists, then is it characterized by origination, or is it characterized by destruction? When origination and destruction are unreasonable, how can the saying that things exist be reasonable? When things do not exist, origination and destruction also do not exist.

Now, since it is unreasonable to thoroughly examine things as they are, things are not existent, and the causeless arising and ceasing are also not existent. Therefore, if things exist, then arising and ceasing are also perfectly established, but what is said is not reasonable. Furthermore, if arising and ceasing were to exist, would they exist on things that are empty of inherent nature or not empty? In that case, arising and ceasing on emptiness is not reasonable. For the time being, it is unreasonable for arising and ceasing to exist on things that are empty of inherent nature. Why? Because they are non-existent. Like this, if inherent nature is non-existent, what would they rely on to exist? Since inherent nature is non-existent, even the designation of 'what belongs to this' is non-existent. On that, how can one say 'what arises?' or 'what ceases?' Therefore, arising and ceasing on emptiness is not reasonable. If someone thinks that arising and ceasing exist on things that are not empty of inherent nature, then it should be explained to them: arising and ceasing on non-emptiness is also not reasonable. It is not reasonable for arising and ceasing to exist on things that do not exist by their own nature, because nature does not change. Therefore, arising and ceasing on non-emptiness is also not reasonable. Furthermore, if arising and ceasing were to exist, would they be the same or different? In that case, arising and ceasing being the same is not reasonable. Arising and ceasing being different is also not reasonable. For the time being, it is unreasonable for arising and ceasing to be the same. Why? Like this, arising is birth and ceasing is destruction. Since the meanings are different, how can these two dissimilar things become the same? It is also unreasonable for arising and ceasing to be different. Why? Because all things are of the nature of decay. Like this, no thing is ever separate from impermanence even for a moment. Therefore, all things are of the nature of decay.
