如果生和灭本身存在，时间等也就会存在。在什么时候，灭没有生，或者一起存在是不可能的。生没有灭，或者一起存在是不可能的。那时如果生和灭存在，是互相没有还是同时存在呢？在任何情况下都不合理的时候，那些的因的时间等怎么会存在呢？那怎么样呢？因为不合理。灭没有生，怎么会存在呢？就像没有死亡就没有出生一样，没有生就没有灭。这样灭没有生怎么会存在呢？任何时候如果某事物产生，就会灭亡，没有基础就不会灭亡。例如，有生就会有死，没有生就没有死一样。有生就会有灭，没有生就不会灭。对此，如果认为灭是和生一起存在的，而不是没有生就不存在，那么就要这样说：灭和生一起，怎么会存在呢？就像死亡和出生不同时存在一样。这样灭和生怎么会一起存在呢？因为它们两个是互相矛盾的，所以它们两个不可能同时存在。例如，死亡和出生是互相矛盾的，因此不可能同时存在。灭和生也是互相矛盾的，因此不可能同时存在。有人说：即使灭没有生也不合理，同时存在也不合理，所以灭不存在，但暂时生是存在的，因为生存在，所以时间等也存在。回答：生没有灭，怎么会存在呢？事物都是无常的，从来没有不存在的时候。这样生没有灭，怎么会存在呢？事物都是无常的，从来没有不存在的时候。这样生没有灭，怎么会存在呢？

If arising and ceasing themselves exist, then time and so on would also exist. At what time does cessation exist without arising, or is it not possible to exist together? Arising without cessation, or is it not possible to exist together? At that time, if arising and ceasing exist, are they mutually exclusive or do they occur together? When neither is reasonable in any case, how can time and so on, which are the causes of those, exist? How is that? Because it is unreasonable. Cessation without arising, how can it exist? Just as there is no death without birth, there is no cessation without arising. Thus, how can cessation exist without arising? At any time, if something arises, it will cease, but without a basis, it will not cease. For example, if there is birth, there will be death, just as there is no death for the unborn. If there is arising, there will be cessation, but without arising, there will be no cessation. To this, if one thinks that cessation exists together with arising, but not without arising, then it should be said: How can cessation exist together with arising? Just as death and birth do not exist at the same time. Thus, how can cessation exist together with arising? Because they are mutually contradictory, it is not reasonable for them to exist together. For example, death and birth are mutually contradictory, therefore they cannot exist at the same time. Cessation and arising are also mutually contradictory, therefore they cannot exist together. Someone says: Even if cessation without arising is unreasonable, and existing together is also unreasonable, so cessation does not exist, but temporarily arising exists, because arising exists, so time and so on also exist. Answer: How can arising exist without cessation? Impermanence is never absent from things. Thus, how can arising exist without cessation? Impermanence is never absent from things. 若，当一切事物都与无常性相联系而无常时，事物便永远不会没有无常性。如此，如果事物哪怕只一瞬间脱离了无常性，那么就会长久地脱离，那样就会变成恒常，而这是不希望的。因此，事物总是与无常性相联系，生起便不可能没有坏灭而存在。对此，如果认为生起是与坏灭一同存在的，而不是没有坏灭而存在的，那么就要对此进行解释：生起如何与坏灭同在？如同生与死不能同时存在一样。如此，生起和坏灭如何能同时存在呢？当这两个事物互不相容时，它们不可能同时存在于一个事物上。例如，生与死是互不相容的，因此不会同时存在，同样，生起与坏灭也是不相容的，因此不会同时存在。因此，如果这样全面考察，生起和坏灭要么不能相互独立，要么不能相互同时成立。哪些事物不能相互独立或相互同时成立，它们又如何能成立呢？生起和坏灭哪些既不能相互独立，也不能相互同时成立，你认为它们还能以什么其他方式成立呢？因此，生起和坏灭是不存在的。如果它们不存在，时间等等又怎么会存在呢？有人说：存在持续，所以没有过失。因为在这里，生起和坏灭之间存在着持续，因为存在持续，所以生起和坏灭任何一个都不可能没有而存在，生起和坏灭也不会同时发生，因此没有过失。回答：这也是不合理的。为什么呢？因为事物是与无常性相联系的，所以没有任何事物能停留在自己的位置哪怕一瞬间。因此，趋于毁灭。

Just as birth and death cannot exist at the same time. Thus, how can arising and disintegration exist together? When these two things are incompatible with each other, it is not reasonable for them to exist together in one thing. For example, birth and death are incompatible, so they do not exist at the same time. Similarly, arising and disintegration are also incompatible, so they do not exist together. Therefore, if thoroughly examined in this way, arising and disintegration either cannot be independent of each other, or cannot be established simultaneously. Which things cannot be independent of each other or established simultaneously, how can they be established? Arising and disintegration, which cannot be independent of each other or established simultaneously, how do you think they can be established in any other way? Therefore, arising and disintegration do not exist. If they do not exist, how can time and so on exist? Someone says: There is no fault because there is duration. Here, there is duration between arising and disintegration. Because there is duration, neither arising nor disintegration can exist without the other, and arising and disintegration do not occur at the same time, so there is no fault. Reply: That is also unreasonable. Why? Because things are connected with impermanence, so nothing can stay in its place even for a moment. Therefore, tending towards destruction.
