For the seed is not annihilation. The teacher Āryadeva also said: Because things are subject to change, therefore they will not be annihilated. Because things are subject to reversal, therefore they will not be permanent. Thus he spoke. Therefore, it is not to be spoken of as being the same or different. Therefore, it is neither permanent nor annihilated, but is the nature of that alone. Not one meaning, not different meanings, not annihilation, not permanence, that is the nectar taught by the Buddha, the protector of the world. Thus, distinguishing the path of heaven and liberation, it is not of one meaning, nor is it of different meanings, it is not annihilation, nor is it permanence, it is beyond the faults of one and different, annihilation and permanence, it is exceedingly profound, it is that which clarifies the ultimate reality, that is for the sake of obtaining happiness in this world and beyond. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the all-knowing, the all-seeing, endowed with the power of the ten strengths, the causeless loving ones, have taught the nectar, and it should be practiced. Like this, those who enter into it, their own direct perception will be immediately accomplished. Those who have not accumulated merit and cannot be immediately accomplished, will surely be accomplished in other lifetimes. The teacher Āryadeva also said: By merely knowing this, even if one has not obtained freedom from desire, in other lifetimes, one will surely obtain it effortlessly, just as from there. Perfect Buddhas have not appeared, and the Śrāvakas have been exhausted, but the wisdom of the Pratyekabuddhas arises greatly from non-reliance. If, even for those who have slightly familiarized themselves with this, have the complete Buddhas not appeared? Have the Śrāvakas been exhausted? Even if they have become devoid of conditions, the wisdom of the Pratyekabuddhas that arises from the cause of their previous familiarity, not knowing from elsewhere, merely being without reliance, will arise greatly from conditions. Therefore, there will be fruit in practicing this nectar teaching. Therefore, those who wish to abandon the solitary place of samsara with its discriminations, and who wish to attain the state of nectar,

This itself should be accomplished with effort, for only through this can the ultimate meaning be definitely achieved. This is called "Examination of Self and Dharma," the eighteenth chapter. Said: Here, by examining the agent, you incidentally revealed the reason there, so my mind has been well shaken, the firm great tree of examining the existence or non-existence of things, which has been firmly established for a long time, its roots are also well moved. Therefore, it is also desired that it will benefit me, so it is appropriate to examine time. Well explained! Said: Here, the Bhagavan has shown the three times in this and that place. If it did not exist, it would not be appropriate to show it, so the three times are only existent. Explanation: The Bhagavan showed the three times by the power of worldly convention, but in itself, the three times are not reasonable. How is that? Here, if the future time gradually becomes the present time, and the present time also gradually becomes the past time. In that case, it becomes one time. For example, even if one goes to the city of Caitra, it is still Caitra, and if one leaves the city, it is still Caitra. For him, there is no difference between not going, going, and leaving. If the future is different, the present is also different, and the past is also different, then all three will become permanent. If it is permanent, then examining time becomes meaningless, because there is no need. Furthermore, here, if there is something called time, does it arise from itself, or does it become established by relying on others? In this regard, if you think that it is established by relying on the three times, then it should be said: The present arising and the future, If relying on the past, The present arising and the future, Will exist in the past time. Thus, if the present and future exist by relying on the past time, then the present and future times will exist in the past time. If it exists in the past, then these two will also become the past. In this way, it becomes one time. If there is only one time, then dependence is unreasonable, just like that itself is that.
