Since it is definitely impermanent, how can bondage and liberation be reasonable for it? If one thinks that formations do not become bondage or liberation, but sentient beings become bondage and liberation, then, it should be said to that: Just like before, sentient beings also, do not bind, will not be liberated. Sentient beings also will not become bondage, will not become liberation. If asked: How is that so? Just like before, just as it was previously shown that for a permanent sentient being, cyclic existence and nirvana are not reasonable, and for an impermanent one, they are also not reasonable, so too here, if a sentient being is not permanent, then bondage is not reasonable, and liberation is also not reasonable. If it becomes bondage and liberation, then because of change, it will become impermanent. For an impermanent sentient being, having the nature of cessation, and definitely not abiding, it is also not possible to be bound and liberated, like this, for something that has ceased and does not exist, what can be bound and liberated? Here it is said: What is the clinging to a sentient being, that is called bondage, and what is the complete pacification of clinging, that is called liberation, and sentient beings also cannot be spoken of as permanent or impermanent, therefore, for sentient beings who are free from the faults of permanence and impermanence, bondage and liberation are reasonable. Explaining: If clinging is bondage, then having clinging will not become bondage. If clinging is bondage, then in that case, a person having the clinging of sentient beings will not become bondage. Why? Because it is only already bound, like this, if it is already bound, why is it necessary to bind again? And if one thinks that only the absence of clinging will become bondage, then, it should be said to that: The absence of clinging does not bind, if there is no clinging, then bondage is not reasonable for it. Like this, without clinging, what is un-imputable, what is un-speakable, what is without manifestation, how can that exist? What does not exist, how can that be bound by clinging? Therefore, a sentient being without clinging will also not be bound by clinging. So now please say, in what state of your sentient being will it become bondage? Here it is said: Clinging is bondage, it is temporarily clearly present, using this to bind.

Therefore, it is called bondage. Since there is bondage, there must also be something to be bound. Explanation: If before being bound, having bondage depends on bondage. That is also not the case. If before being bound, the clinging to bondage exists, then as you wish, clinging depends on bondage to bind. Before being bound, that is also not the case. How can there be clinging when there is no clinging? How can something that does not exist before being bound bind? Therefore, clinging is also not bondage. The rest is shown by measuring what has gone and what has not gone. The remaining parts of unreasonable bondage should be understood through what has gone, what has not gone, and measuring. Just as there is no going in what has gone, and there is none in what has not gone, and there is none in measuring. The bound does not bind, the unbound does not bind, and the binding does not bind. Just as there is no beginning of going in what has gone, and there is none in what has not gone, and there is none in measuring. There is no beginning of binding in the bound, and there is none in the unbound, and there is none in the binding that is disappearing. Here it is said: For the time being, liberation is established according to what the Blessed One has taught, because the Tathagata appears in the world to liberate beings. Therefore, for the time being, liberation exists. There is no liberation for the unbound, therefore the bound must also exist. Explanation: If liberation itself is reasonable, then the bound should also exist, but if liberation is unreasonable, how can the bound be reasonable? Why? Because, for the time being, the bound will not be liberated. Here, that which is bound for the time being will not be liberated. Why? Thus, how can that which is bound, remaining in the state of being bound, reasonably be liberated? If the bound itself could be liberated, then there would be no unliberated, which is not desired. Therefore, for the time being, the bound will not be liberated. It is said: That which is bound and separated from bondage is liberation. Explanation: For that too, it is the same, for the bound, separation from bondage is unreasonable, because it is merely bound. It is said: Then
