Sentient beings transmigrate, free from the faults of permanence and impermanence. Explanation: If the person transmigrates, then in the aggregates, sense bases, and elements, if it is sought in five ways, if it is not found, what transmigrates? If you think that the person transmigrates in this way, then that is extremely unreasonable. Why? Because in the aggregates, sense bases, and elements, it is not found when sought in five ways. Your self-satisfied, unnecessary person, like a false deer, after being completely examined, is not found when sought in five ways in the aggregates, sense bases, and elements. If it is not found when sought in five ways, then by what are they considered to exist? Therefore, it is only non-existent. If it does not exist, then what transmigrates? Tell me. Furthermore: From grasping to grasping, if it transmigrates, then there will be no existence. If there is no existence, no grasping, then what transmigrates? If it is examined that the person transmigrates, then in that way, from this grasping, when transmigrating to another grasping, there will be no existence. Why? Like this, relying on grasping, it is established as existence, then its grasping also exists in the interval of grasping, and if it does not exist, then relying on what will it be established as existence? Therefore, because it has no grasping, it will become the fault of having no existence. What is it that existence does not exist, grasping does not exist, manifestation does not exist, and nominal designation does not exist? What is it, and in what grasping does it transmigrate? When there is no taking, grasping itself does not exist. It is said: That is because only the grasping of the intermediate state of existence exists, therefore only by having grasping can other existences be taken, so it will not become non-existent. Explanation: If this grasping is abandoned and transformed into the grasping of the intermediate state of existence, and the grasping of the intermediate state of existence is also abandoned and transformed into another grasping, then in that interval, existence does not exist, and grasping does not exist, that state remains. Therefore, sentient beings should not transmigrate either. Then, how can conditioned phenomena be liberated from nirvana? How can conditioned phenomena be liberated from nirvana?

Moreover, nirvana is also unreasonable. Why? Because it would fall into the fault of permanence and impermanence. Among them, if conditioned things are considered permanent, then what difference would it make that those conditioned things that are permanent and unchanging attain nirvana? If there is a difference, then because of change, they become impermanent. If conditioned things are impermanent, then since they are subject to destruction, whose nirvana would it be for those who are extinguished and non-existent? Therefore, the nirvana of conditioned things is also unreasonable. If someone thinks that sentient beings can attain nirvana, then it should be said to them: Sentient beings attaining nirvana is in no way reasonable. Sentient beings attaining nirvana is in no way reasonable. Why? Because it would fall into the fault of permanence and impermanence. Among them, if sentient beings become permanent, then the permanent and unchanging ones attaining nirvana would be of no use, and would also fall into many faults. If sentient beings become impermanent, then since they are impermanent, there is no need to strive for their extinction, so what use is nirvana? And whose nirvana would it be? If someone thinks that sentient beings that cannot be said to be permanent or impermanent can attain nirvana, that is also not possible. Why? Because that which cannot be said to be permanent or impermanent is reasonable for those with grasping, but unreasonable for those without grasping. If sentient beings without grasping are to attain nirvana, then why is it that only those without grasping cannot be said to be permanent or impermanent? If someone thinks that those without grasping cannot be said to be existent or non-existent, then it should be said to them: How can that which cannot be said to be existent or non-existent be said to be nirvana? It is said: Whatever is without grasping cannot be said to be existent or non-existent. Just as when there is grasping, it cannot be said to be that or not that.

No. Explanation: How can one know that something exists when there is no grasping and no manifestation? If it exists, then the very act of knowing that it exists is grasping it. Therefore, liberation is not reasonable for something that is grasped. If someone thinks, 'When there is no grasping, it cannot be said to exist. Then, how can one know that it exists?' How can such an objection be valid? Explanation: What can be said is one thing, and what can be known is another. Therefore, it is said, 'How can it be known?' and not, 'How can it be said?' For the non-existent horns of a rabbit, you have no thought of what can be said or what cannot be said. Therefore, having conceived of it as existing in your mind, you say that it cannot be said in order to avoid linguistic faults. If your mind also cannot determine whether it exists or does not exist, then why do you say that it cannot be said? It is simply that it cannot be known. This is the category of what can be said. Master Aryadeva also said: 'If in liberation there is a self, it is permanent; if there is none, it becomes impermanent and changing. A person cannot be spoken of, and the wise do not know nor not know.' Therefore, sentient beings can in no way be liberated from suffering. Conditioned phenomena, which are subject to arising and ceasing, are neither bound nor liberated. Conditioned phenomena should neither be bound nor liberated. Why? Because conditioned phenomena are subject to arising and ceasing, arising and ceasing in each moment, and ceasing with their own causes and conditions, they are necessarily impermanent. Therefore, they can in no way be bound or liberated. Someone says: 'There is bondage and liberation in the continuum of conditioned phenomena.' Explanation: If there were some entity called the continuum of conditioned phenomena, then it would be bound or liberated as you wish. When conditioned phenomena are the cause of arising and ceasing, the term 'continuum' arises from this. Then, what would be bound, and what would be liberated? Even if there were an entity of continuum, it would still be a conditioned phenomenon and subject to arising and ceasing.
