Since it is impossible for three different thoughts to arise simultaneously, there is no doubt. Someone says: If our knowledge does not arise definitively for a certain necessary purpose, then there is doubt about that necessary purpose. To this, it should be said: Because of existence and non-existence, the necessary purpose does not exist. That which is strived for and invested in for a certain purpose, that is the necessity. You say this, just as a potter invests for the sake of a pot. If a pot already exists in the clay, then his investment becomes meaningless. However, if it does not exist, like sand, it will not be invested in because of its non-existence. Someone says: Sand is not invested in, because there is an example. Just as when wool is needed, one invests in wool and so on, but not in the investment itself. To this, it should be said: That kind of example is the same as before. Furthermore, since there is no beginning and middle, the end is also not seen. For a certain purpose, if the beginning and middle are not seen, how can the end be seen? If there is no beginning and middle, there will be no end. Therefore, there is no example. Someone says: Worldly people and practitioners, whatever they agree on, that is an example, and it can be either similar or dissimilar. To this, it should be said: Because of similarity, fire is not an example of fire. Because of similarity, whatever is called an example is not. Because fire is not an example of fire, because there is no difference between what needs to be proven and the prover. If it itself is both what needs to be proven and the prover, then how can it become a special example? Furthermore, water is not an example of fire, because of dissimilarity. Water that belongs to cold is not suitable as an example of fire, because in some cases, water is cold, just like fire, saying that is absurd. Furthermore, if it is established because of slight similarity, that is not possible, just like Mount Meru and hair. If it is an example because of slight similarity, would that be established? That is not possible. Because, here, Mount Meru and hair are only slightly similar in terms of existence, oneness, and having a body.

It is consistent. Furthermore, it is not the case that hair like Mount Meru is very famous. If it is said that most are in accordance with the Dharma, then it should be said that because it has been forbidden before, most are not in accordance with the Dharma. Here, it will not become mostly inconsistent with the Dharma either, because for that, mostly consistent with the Dharma and inconsistent with the Dharma itself are not established. The opponent says: You are saying that it is not established, but it should not be spoken together with those who have no tenets. It should be said: If the beginning is not established, then the end will not be established either. If the beginning is not established, then the middle and the end will both not be established. The opponent says: That which is without limbs does not establish, and what you speak of as limbs is not. Therefore, since everything is unrelated, it is necessary to undoubtedly grasp the limbs and speak, otherwise the refutation will not be established. It should be said: Because there is no possessor of limbs, there are no limbs. Here, for the limbs of the proposition, the reason, the example, the application, and the conclusion, because there is no possessor of limbs, there is no form of limbs. The opponent says: Limbs are not established in the collection. It should be said: Because they are not in each individual, they cannot be established in the collection either. To say that there is a possessor of limbs in the collection is not correct, because there is no possessor of limbs in each individual limb, so there is none in the collection either. Furthermore, since the possessor of limbs is one, all forms of limbs will become one, and this fault also applies to others. However, if there is one other than the five limbs, then it will become the sixth. Furthermore, the three times of the path are established, so there are no limbs at all. The proposition and so on, whether born, unborn, present, or beyond form, future, or present, cannot be fully examined, because there is no reason. Therefore, there is no possessor of limbs, and there are no limbs either. However, like a grass rope, that is also established. Just as one grass rope cannot bind an elephant, but a collection of grass ropes can, similarly, the proposition and so on do not have a possessor of limbs.
