If it is established, please tell me what other object of measurement is. Because the vase itself is manifest, but the vase is not, because whatever meaning is extremely focused on the senses is considered manifest. For the eye sense, a representation of the sense is made, and whatever meaning is extremely focused on it is manifest, and this also depends on conditions such as appearance. Therefore, if the vase and so on are completely established as manifest, then whose is this measure? What will become the object of measurement? Similarly, from the relationship between fire and smoke, that which precedes the manifest is inference. Then, when the consciousness of inference arises, what will become the inference? What other object of inference will there be? The same is true for the rest. Someone says: For the vase, the consciousness of the vase is the measure, and the vase is the object of measurement. It should be said: That is merely a condition, therefore it is neither consciousness nor object of consciousness. Because whoever thinks that consciousness arises from the encounter of the senses and objects, that vase is merely a condition, therefore consciousness is the measure, and the vase is not the object of measurement. The object of measurement is also not consciousness, because it has been clearly stated that it is the object of measurement. Because you say that consciousness is the object of measurement, what is it like? Because it is said that self, body, senses, objects, consciousness, mind, action, faults, future life, fruit, suffering, and liberation are all objects of measurement. Therefore, neither exists. Someone says: Whatever is the measure itself, that is the object of measurement. Saying this will cause doubt. Because there is doubt, both the measure and the object of measurement are established. The meaning of the word "doubt" is existence itself. If it is said that for unreal things, this existence does not exist, then it should be said: For objects of perception or non-objects of perception, there is no doubt, because that is existence and non-existence itself. Here, is doubt generated for objects of perception, or for non-objects of perception, or for objects that are being perceived? One should not doubt objects of perception, and one should not doubt non-objects of perception.

For caste, there is also no third purpose called specifically. Therefore, there is no doubt. It is said: There is no doubt, because it does not depend on characteristics. Here, seeing something from a distance that is thought to be a stump or a person, doubt arises, is this a person or a stump? When characteristics such as a bird's nest or a wild animal moving are seen, it is determined that this is a stump. Because it is the opposite of that, when actions such as turning the head and moving the hands are seen, the cognition of a person arises. This also depends on characteristics because of existence and non-existence, otherwise doubt arises. Therefore, if it is said that doubt exists, then it should be said that because it has already been negated, doubt does not depend on characteristics. Because of existence and non-existence, there is no doubt, this statement has already been negated. If asked why, because observing reasons such as a bird's nest on a stump, the knowledge that this is a stump arises, this is not doubt, because it is completely understanding as it is. Similarly, for the case of being a person, because observing reasons such as turning the head, the complete understanding that this is a person arises, this is not doubt, because it is understanding as it is. For both, if there is no reason for true knowledge, then it is not understanding, not doubt, because uncertainty, not understanding, not grasping, not knowing, not seeing, etc. are not different meanings, these are synonyms for not knowing, because they are the opposite of knowing. This will be shown in this way, depending on the characteristics, one will understand, and not seeing the characteristics will cause not knowing to arise. Seeing turning the head, moving the hands, etc., will not become doubt, and without characteristics, it is not knowing. It will become like this, with characteristics one will understand, and without them it is not knowing. For those with and without characteristics
