If the fruit itself does not exist, then whatever does not exist, whether individual causes or aggregated causes, should not arise from causes. If it does not exist, yet can arise from those causes, then why cannot the fruit arise from non-causes? If it is thought that the fruit can arise from causes even if it does not exist, then why cannot non-causes, which are similar to non-existence, produce fruit? Here it is said: What you speak of as causes and non-causes, what are they, they exist. Here it is said: If the fruit arises from causes, then the causes do not arise from themselves. From what does the fruit arise that is not self-arisen? How can that be said to arise from causes? Therefore, the fruit does not arise from causes. The fruit that arises from non-causes, because it does not exist, how can non-causes become causes? What you say that causes and non-causes exist, this is to be refuted: Regarding your previous thought that the fruit arises from causes, if analyzed carefully with reason, then the causes, just like the fruit, do not arise from themselves. From causes that do not arise from themselves, how can the fruit that arises be said to arise from causes? Therefore, the fruit neither arises from causes nor arises from non-causes. Because the fruit does not exist, non-causes and causes, just like the fruit, do not exist in essence, just like a mirage. The examination of causes, this is the first chapter. Here it is said: Here, the actions of the three times are apparent, and by taking the states of the three times as a measure, past, future, and going, etc., are extensively explained, therefore action exists. Here it is said: For the past, there is no going; for the future, there is also no going. Apart from the past and the future, going cannot be understood. Here, for the past, there is no going, because it has already passed, because it is unreasonable to be separated from action. For the future, there is also no going, because there is no going. For going, there is also no going, because apart from the past and the future

Because there is no going, like a lamp and light. Here it is said: Where there is movement, there is going. And whose going is it? Movement is gone or not gone, therefore there is going in going. Here, where there is movement appearing, there is going. And why is that? Because for going, the movement of appearance, neither appears when gone, nor appears when not gone. There is also going in going. Here it is said: That there is going in going, how can it be established? When there is no going, going is not established. Here, it is not established that there is going in going. Why is that? Like this, the going without going, necessarily grasping is not established, like the son of a barren woman. Also, others, whose going has going, that his going has no going, it will be a fault, because of what? Because going is understood. Here, whose side thinks that there is going in going, his going will be faulty without going, it will become a statement that is established without dependence. Why is that? Because going is understood, because of clinging to this word. That is also not desired, therefore going has going, this statement is not reasonable, like an established woman. Also, others, if going has going, there will be two goings, with what going, what is that and the going there? Here, if it is thought that going has going, there will be two goings, how is it? With what going is said that and there will also become going. Also, others, if it becomes two goings, the goer will also become two. Because of what? Because without a goer, going is not established. Here, if it becomes two goings, the goer will also become two, why is that? Because without a goer, going is not established. It is not desired to become two goings and two goers, therefore going has going, this statement is not reasonable, like being beheaded. Here it is said: Without a goer, going is not established

English

It is so. Therefore, the goer relies on the going that necessarily exists in the three times of past, present, and future, and thus there is going. Here it is said: If the goer does not exist, then going is not reasonable. If there is no going, how can there be a goer? When the goer does not exist, going is not reasonable. Since there is no going, how can there be a goer? Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that the goer necessarily exists in the three times. Furthermore: For the moment, the goer does not go, and it is neither a goer nor going. Other than the goer and the non-goer, who is the third one who goes? Here, does a goer go, or does a non-goer go? Or other than these two, is there a third one who goes? To this, for the moment, the goer does not go, because there is going. The non-goer also does not go, because there is no going. The third one other than these two also does not go, because it does not exist. If something exists, would it be a goer? Or would it be a non-goer? Neither of these two can go, so it is unreasonable. Furthermore: For the moment, to say that the goer goes, how can it be reasonable? If there is no going, the goer can never be reasonable. Here, clinging to what is called the goer as the goer is unreasonable. Why? Because if there is no going, the goer can never be reasonable. Furthermore: In the direction where the goer wants to go, it will become a goer without going. Why? Because the goer wants to go. Furthermore: If the goer goes, there will be two goings. With what does one manifest the goer, and with what does one go after becoming the goer? In this direction of the goer going, there will be two goings. How so? With what going does one manifest the goer, and after becoming the goer, with what other going does one go later?
