By what means can it be established? In no way is it reasonable. For example, just as death is without birth, destruction is not without arising. Just as death is not without birth, so too destruction is not without arising. Now, if one thinks that destruction is not without arising, so it exists simultaneously with arising, here it is said: How can destruction exist simultaneously with arising? By what reasoning can destruction be established as existing simultaneously with arising? In no way is it acceptable. For example, just as death is not simultaneous with birth. Just as death is not simultaneous with birth, so too destruction is not simultaneous with arising. Here it is said, if destruction is not without arising, nor simultaneous, then arising exists without destruction. Here it is said: How can arising exist without destruction? By what reasoning can arising be established as without destruction? In no way is it reasonable. Why? Because impermanence in things is never absent. Because that is its nature, like the self-nature of things. Now, if one thinks that arising is not without destruction, so it exists simultaneously with destruction, here it is said: How can arising exist simultaneously with destruction? By what reasoning can arising be established as existing simultaneously with destruction? In no way is it reasonable. For example, just as birth is not reasonably simultaneous with death. Just as birth is not reasonably simultaneous with death, so too arising is not reasonably simultaneous with destruction. Those things that are mutually simultaneous or mutually not simultaneous, not existing as established, how can those things be established? Because of such thorough examination, destruction is not without arising, nor simultaneous, and arising is not without destruction, nor simultaneous, therefore, arising and destruction

Since these do not exist as accomplishments, how else could these accomplishments exist? Therefore, arising and ceasing do not exist. If these do not exist, how could time and so on exist? It is also said in the "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness": Things and non-things do not exist simultaneously. Without non-things, there are no things. Things and non-things are constantly changing. Non-things do not arise without things. Without things, there are no non-things. It is not from self, nor from other. Therefore, things do not exist. If it does not exist, then non-things do not exist. If things exist, then it is permanent. If it does not exist, then it is definitely annihilation. If things exist, then it is both. Therefore, things are not accepted. Here it is said: Although things are of the nature of destruction, they do not perish immediately upon arising. Like this, immediately upon arising, existence will occur, and after that, destruction will occur, therefore, destruction exists without arising, and arising also exists without destruction. Here it is said: There is no arising for what is exhausted. There is also no arising for what is not exhausted. There is no destruction for what is exhausted. There is also no destruction for what is not exhausted. Whatever is constantly decaying and is exhausted and separated every moment of every day is called exhausted. Just like the flow of a river, it is impossible to determine that what is impermanent and whose essence has not manifested will arise. Therefore, there is no arising for what is exhausted. Whatever does not change in any way and never becomes exhausted or separated is called unexhausted. Since it is not appropriate to determine that what is constantly present in this or that way and does not change will arise. Therefore, there is also no arising for what is unexhausted. Since there is no arising for what is exhausted, destruction is unreasonable. Therefore, there is no destruction for what is exhausted. Since there is no arising for what is unexhausted, destruction is also unreasonable. Therefore, there is also no arising for what is unexhausted. Thus, if a thing is of the nature of destruction, and is in a state of exhaustion, then there is no arising for it. If it does not perish immediately upon arising, because it is not in a state of exhaustion. Then there is also no arising for it. Similarly, if a thing is of the nature of destruction, and is in a state of exhaustion, then it
