Because it would become a fallacy. Furthermore, the distinction between meritorious deeds and sinful deeds would also be unreasonable. If uncreated karma could also produce results, then the distinction of 'this one is doing meritorious deeds, this one is doing sinful deeds' would also be unreasonable, because all uncreated virtuous and non-virtuous actions would become existent, and their results would also become attainable. Furthermore, when its maturation has ripened, it will repeatedly ripen into maturation. If karma exists, therefore its essence exists. If uncreated karma can still produce results, then even when that karma has already ripened into fruition, it will repeatedly ripen into other fruits of maturation. Why? Because if karma inherently exists, therefore its essence exists. Here it is said: Karma is existent, because the afflictions, which are the cause of karma, exist. Here it is said: Karma is the nature of afflictions, but those afflictions are not real. If afflictions are not real, how is karma created by them? If karma arises from the cause of afflictions, then those afflictions are not real because they are unborn, without inherent existence, and dependently arisen. If that is the case, and those afflictions are not real, then how can karma and afflictions create anything? Because the afflictions, which are the cause of karma, are without inherent existence. Here it is said: Karma and afflictions are inherently existent, because the results of afflictions have the characteristics of karma and body, and the results of karma have the characteristics of body. Here it is said: Karma and afflictions are shown as the causes of bodies. If karma and afflictions are empty, how can they be attributed to bodies? Regarding this, you claim that karma and afflictions are inherently existent, because their results exist. The scriptures state that karma and afflictions are the causes of bodies, but this is a conventional designation, not an ultimate truth. Why?

Because karma and afflictions lack inherent existence, their resultant body also lacks inherent existence. Here it is said: Karma is definitely existent, because there is an eater who enjoys its result. If you ask, how is that known? It is said: Whatever being is obscured by ignorance, possessed of craving, that is the eater. That is also not different from the agent, nor is it that itself. The Blessed One, in the sutras without beginning or end, said: Beings obscured by ignorance are fully endowed with attachment. And similarly, if you yourself have done this sinful deed, you yourself must experience its maturation. That is also not different from the agent, nor is it that itself, because it cannot be said to be the same or different. Therefore, karma is also definitely existent. Here it is said: Because this karma is not produced from conditions, nor is it existent from non-conditions, therefore there is also no agent. That agent is also not produced like karma, because the agent is prevented, and because it is not substantially existent, therefore there is no karma and no agent. Furthermore, if there is no karma and no agent, how can there be a result born from karma? If there is no result, how can there be an eater? If examined, there is no karma and no agent, then how can there be a result born from karma? If there is no result, how can there be an eater? Because there is no cause for expressing profound sounds. Here it is said: Is it absolutely certain that there is no agent, karma, result, profound, karma, and afflictions? Here it is said: Whatever arises dependently, how is it appropriate to say that it exists or does not exist? In order to dispel such clinging, please take this example. Just as a magician, with perfect magical power, conjures, and the conjurer also conjures others, and that conjuration is also like others. Similarly, whatever karma the agent does is also in the form of a conjuration. For example, a conjurer conjures another conjuration, just like what the conjurer does. Afflictions and karma
