If there is no entity, where will the definition apply? Like sesame oil in sand. Furthermore, in either case, the definition does not apply. How so? It is said: Definition does not apply to the undefined, nor to the defined. Other than the defined and the undefined, it does not apply elsewhere. For the moment, definition does not apply to things that have definition. Why? If something already has a definition, why should a definition be applied to it? If a definition were to apply to something that already has a definition, then there would be the fault of two definitions: which definition would be used to represent it, and what is it that applies a definition to it as well? Definition does not apply to the undefined either. To what thing will the definition apply? Why? Here, the definition of an elephant is that it has tusks, a trunk that hangs down, lips that resemble a fish's tail, a head adorned with three bumps, ears like fans, a back curved like a bow, a hanging belly, a large stomach, a tail that sits on the buttocks, and four legs that are thick and round. Apart from these, what elephants are there to which the definition of an elephant can apply? Similarly, the definition of a horse is that it has a long face, high tubular ears, hooves, four legs with single hooves, and a mane that grows from the neck. Apart from these, what horses are there to which the definition of a horse can apply? Therefore, definition does not apply to the defined, nor does it apply to the undefined. Other than the defined and the undefined, there is no third case to which definition can apply. Thus, upon thorough examination, definition does not apply in either case. If definition does not apply, then the defined basis (the referent of the term) is not established. If the defined basis is not established, then definition does not exist. Because upon thorough examination, definition does not apply in either case, the basis of definition is not established. The basis of definition is not established

If not, then nature also does not exist. Therefore, the basis of nature does not exist, because nature itself does not exist. Apart from the basis of nature and nature, things also do not exist. Therefore, the term "therefore" is a conclusion. Because by clearly presenting reasoning and thoroughly examining, in all ways, the basis of nature is not reasonable. If the basis of nature is not reasonable, then nature itself also does not exist. Apart from these two, things do not exist, just as a pot is different from its own nature. Here someone says: If things do not exist, then the non-existence of things exists. Here it is explained: If things do not exist, then whose will the non-existence be? If things are completely proven, then the non-existence of things is also reasonable. But if analyzed, that thing does not exist, and if it does not exist, then whose will that non-existence of things be? Like a rabbit's horn. Here someone says: That which distinguishes and recognizes things and the non-existence of things exists. Here it is explained: Things and non-things are contradictory attributes, who knows things and non-things? What is it that you cling to that distinguishes things and non-things, who can point out what the contradictory attributes of things and non-things are? Therefore, space is not a thing, not a non-thing, not a basis of nature, not nature, not the five elements, anything else is similar to space. Therefore, through thorough examination, space is neither a thing nor a non-thing, not a basis of nature, nor nature. Just as space is, so too should any other five elements be viewed. Those with small minds, who always see existence and non-existence in things, cannot see what should be seen, which is the peace and tranquility of Nirvana, like the blind. The Analysis of Elements ends here, this is the fifth chapter. Here someone says: All dharmas exist, because desire and attachment can be applied. Here it is explained: If desire
